Do most of you see Choice as the likely RF here for next year? This seems to me to be the prevailing train of thought. If so, it's important, perhaps imperative, that this season be one for him to get his game more refined, and it's just very difficult to do this when he plays so little as he is now.

He's a much better OF than Moreland today. But he's also much more raw and it would serve the team, long term, better if he were getting regular playing time/AB at AAA.

Don't the rangers have a team option on Rios next year? I think they pickup the option and give Choice another year to develop. Probably the easiest move to make.

Why pay him 13.5 million, when you can probably get similar production and put that money towards another player?

As opposed to paying Rios 13.5 million next year? Yes, I think Choice gives you similar production next year for a fraction of the cost

You lose the steals but I think long term thats about it

I think Texas will pick up that option. The FA OF market will be trash and they'll prob turn Rios into a nice prospect.

You've succinctly stated what I think I've been reading here for quite some time from most posters. And I agree.

One thought on Choice, he'll never have the speed of Rios. But he sure seems to keep his head in the game, and will probably do OK on the base-paths, once he's more seasoned. Same thing in the OF. Once he gets game experience, he'll probably be the type to get good reads on balls.

I know personally I don't ever want to see Moreland playing in the OF. And we need to be careful about kicking our players to the curb as we seem to want to do. I like Rios and think we should keep him at that price. He as a lot of tools and experience.

I say keep him. No guarantee we get the same production.

Honestly, can't rule this out. But again, it's all that much more important to let Choice play somewhere, everyday. The jury is still somewhat out on how much, if any, seasoning is needed. But he sure as hell needs to play this season and I mean daily.

Happy Easter everyone! I am looking for another strong outing from Ross today which with hopefully lead to our first series sweep and the longest win streak in the MLB this season.

Think the Brewers won 9 or 10 in a row or something didn't they? Hoping RR has another good start for sure

The issue is that we know what we'll get out of Rios, but don't know what we'll get out of Choice. Maybe have Choice play everyday in AAA this year, if he does well ease him into it by having him be 4th OF next year, then don't resign Rios the following year when he is a FA and let Choice play everyday.

From one year to the next Rios is one of the most up and down players in the league, so actually NO you don't know what you have in Rios, he could be flat awful next year as he has been prone to do in the past

I will take my chances with him. He was one of our best players at the end of the year last year and has started off well this year.

Thanks for giving away the out wash. The offense is running great so why don't you stick your Midas finger of shit right in the middle of it. Brilliant. :L
