A lot of people seem to think that BOS should get nothing since they fired Chiarelli in the first place.

I am guessing his BOS contract agrees to pay him $x million for a certain period of time. If so, then BOS is within their legal rights to prevent him from working somewhere else. At least until the time period identifed in the contract expires.

I am sure this could be cleared up rather quickly if EDM gave up their 2015 first rounder. That should appease BOS.

I think that's the basis of it. If he wasn't still under contract Edmonton could hire him free and clear. But if he was still being paid by Boston he was still technically an employee I guess.

I will repeat. Phaneuf, Reimer, Kadri and TOR two first rounders for EDM first.
