has a shoulder injury, and there is talk that it could jeopardize his season. Think they put in a call to Mike Brown if this is true?
His value could be higher if the trade is with San Francisco, but with any other team (Seattle, Miami) who will be that much further out of the playoff race, it'll be lower.
Hypothetically, if I were sitting at 1-5, 1) I'd rather just play out the season and see how high of a draft pick I can get and 2) I know the pick is going to be high no matter what, so I don't want to overpay for Palmer by giving up a high 1st. This, as opposed to 1) sitting at 1-3 where I may still feel the season can be salvaged and 2) Palmer has a good portion of the season left to get acclimated and I would only be giving up say a mid-first pick as opposed to the high 1st pick. So, for those teams (Seattle, Miami), his value is only dropping.
In San Francisco's case, they'll be front runners for the division win, so they may become more desperate as the deadline approaches.
I agree. I don't think he has much value at all in Miami. The ownership will more than likely can the coach in the offseason. If they bring in a new coach, the new coach will want to choose his own quarterback and might not be crazy about Palmer. Better off just playing out the games and making changes during the offseason.
With SF and Seattle they have stability in the coaching staff (I can't see Seattle giving up on Carrol after 2 seasons), so they might be interested. SF has a defense that can win right now, but the offense is terrible. I guess the question is whether Palmer could really contribute right away and be a better option than Alex Smith. I have my doubts he would be successful if he played this season.
He's not going anywhere.
I know. I was just reporting. I never thought he was actually going anywhere.
