Tid Bit about the Hendrickson Saga.

I also saw some Internet wannabe reporter hand out a trade idea that would send Hendrickson to Detroit for the #27 overall pick this year, their 3rd rounder, and then a conditional 3rd to 4th rounder next year.

At this point, I would take that. May even be an overpay on Detroit's part. Supposedly, the rest of the league is getting sick of the Bengals being unreasonable with their expectations on Hendrickson's trade compensation. Hendrickson belongs to the Bengals assholes, we can ask for whatever we want, and if you don't like it, don't offer. It is really as simple as that.

Do I fully agree with the Bengals here, not at all. However, that is the way it is. The Bengals want X, Y and Z, the rest of the league is only wanting to give up Y.

Been out a minute on PTO - just getting caught up.

I don't agree with "Trey can just sit out for 6 games, or act hurt and not play". I'm not worried whether Trey gets paid this year, or not. Sunk cost in my mind as the primary portion of F/A is over. Unless they decide to use that to extend some other players, it's a moot point.

Trey still needs to play. He's going to be 31 this year. While teams may not care much about signing guys into their 30's, they usually don't sign guys from other teams to long-term deals with big money who are already approaching mid-30's before the 1st year of the contract is even dry. Trey turns 32 during next season. If he sits out any portion, and has a "slow" year, or a "down" year - it's going to hurt him a lot more than I think some are admitting. Yes, teams will point to bad pre-season, no reps, contract situation - but...you also have to wonder...at least some...how much is a guy going to be worth who just went ham for 35 sacks in 2 season, then turned 31 and (regardless of games played by sitting out or not) didn't look great. You're signing him to a 3 or 4 year deal in a year where he turns 32....and a no so great 2025 (again, regardless of situation).

Bengals still hold the cards here. They can also tag-trade him next year and still get at least a mid-round for him. So - yeah, the Bengals asking for a 1st and 3rd (IMO) is not out of question - and should be the expectations, IMO. Otherwise, Trey can figure out a deal that works for staying, or he can play and cash in by having a really good year (again) - but not having a good year, regardless of situation, isn't ideal for Trey in any way, shape, or form.

Yeah, wife and I went on our first Cruise for our 20th. Had my phone, but didn't take the laptop - and posting from the phone is just too dang hard. Add in a few cocktails, and I probably would have been challenging someone to meet me at the Dayton Mall once I got back on land...hahahaha

Thanks!

She makes questionable choices, that is for sure...HA!

Then again - so do I. As proof - I am here, on the Bengals board...lol
