Right, hard to win style points playing nobody while teams are playing conference games

I was just in Knoxville for a youth football tournament and the Embassy we were at was packed out for Vols, i was thinking big game? Fucking UTEP, I had some jokes for them while OSU was thumping indiana, but we all came together with Bama losing lol.

Talk about a uniting moment haha
youth football tournament............. no shit. I've been involved in that world heavily the last 3-4 years. what grade?

3rd. We lost to the champ by 6 points. Rocky top. They had a 5 7 RB who they claim is 9. Fucking bullshit. We beat the doors off the two legit teams.

Its crazy how the GCFYL (Cincy) is one of the biggest youth leagues in the country and we have zero kids out of 21 teams in 3rd over 150 pounds and we played a team with 4 of them. Lol. My son got a sack against a kid twice his size.

Im gonna say 1, that 1 being Georgia or Bama.
I would be interesting to see which 1 loss team (s) get bounced for any 3-loss team.
It seems to me that regardless of how tough the schedule is, a team still needs to win.
Otherwise, just put the teams that rate high in recruiting ranks directly into the playoffs, because after all they are better on paper.

If other "mid tier" teams stepped up, Bama would be out. But Ole Miss and A and M losing helped Bama out.

oh. don't get me started on this. my son's team has made the playoffs the last 3 seasons. this one school shows up with a couple linemen that look like they should be on the HS JV or Varsity squads. people were shocked. I have no problem with my son being tackled normally, but I was nervous about one of these kids getting to him (QB1) and falling on him.

coaches are supposed to carry a binder of school records/BCs of each kid, proving age. problem is, for whatever reason, I don't see many challenges. I don't know WTF some of these parents feed their kids. but it is also very common for some pyscho parents to intentionally hold their kids back a year so they get a leg up on body development, speed, and size.

same thing in basketball, many times I've seen parents walk up to referees asking them to check ages/grades of kids.

We challenged books in a tourney last year in the Semis (Pickerington) and even caught them on video dumping old papers etc. The tournament director was in on it because they were local. They then dropped the older kids for the final and got drummed 27 0 by Westerville.

With Rocky Top you're talking 400 plus teams and they dont make the kids bring a helmet to weigh ins. So effectively they are encouraging them to cheat, and don't really bother with enforcing the books. There is zero chance the 5 7 kid was under 130 (our league limits skill players to under 105 at 3rd) but i didnt see a single kid all tournament with a sticker. The 150 plus team had no kids with stickers.

Im of the opinion youth football should have weight limits until 6th and the kid should play up until he gets to the right weight. When we have 65 pound corners trying to tackle a 140 lb kid there is something fucked with that.

End of the day our district will produce better players. They had 4 of the top 25 kids out of Ohio just 2 years ago. But its frustrating doing it the right way at these ages. But our kids will be better HS athletes for it.

I'd also add a big shout out to the GCFYL making teams doing it legit and keeping kids as safe as they can playing a physical sport.

yeah, in our youth FB league, 3-6th, ball carriers had to be under a certain weight. Anyone over, had to have a black stripe on their helmet signifying they were not allowed to carry the ball. 7th grade that all went away. big disparities in size. some kids hit their middle school growth spurt and many haven't.

Yea, 7th through 9th is just going to be awkward depending on who hits puberty first. No way getting around that, and no reason to punish kids for growing first. But age should be strictly enforced in tourneys.

Some dumb dumb who got held back multiple times and is a 15 year old 8th grader should be SOL.

With these latest rankings, all signs points to Indiana getting screwed in 2 weeks

Maybe, if Tamu beats Texas and then Georgia.

I don't see how they can justify jumping bama over indiana with a win against auburn.

But I can see Texas over indiana with the committee not punishing Georgia for a 3rd loss in ccg.

I think the odds of the Big 12 missing the playoffs altogether are almost the same as a 3-loss playoff team.

crazy chaos last weekend.

SEC situation. lots of possible drama.

1. A&M beats Texas.
2. GTech beats Georgia
3. Vandy beats Tenn

who's in the CCG? still think its Texas vs. GA going into it, albeit with lower rankings. and I do think the loss of any CCG has to matter. which puts extra massive weight on the critical need to win this game. because I think the loser has to be out. Winning matters. anyone whining about their 3 or 4 losses and screaming how hard the schedule is, can GFYS........
