Portland is in a weird spot

That’s the most likely scenario

Doesn’t matter.

If Portland trades the pick, the Celtics would have to give more with Brown and take on some bad contracts.

Don’t see it.

Multiple basketball writers have gone there

Wasn’t my original idea

It states wirh Simons and 3

A lot of sources and/or talking heads say a lot of things...

... and a lot of things aren't very likely to happen.

Simons and a 3 for JB?

That is a horrible deal for Portland.

I would trade dame and start over as Portland

But they are as smart as your wizards

That is a good point.

At the same time though, a deal like that would be awesome value for Boston.

But it isn’t the type of return a contending roster needs.

Yeah.

First Simon’s doesn’t fit either roster imo.

It recreates the cj McCollum issue in Portland

And Simon’s is the 4th best guard in Boston…at 25m per

Boston would need to turn him, salary and the 4 future picks they have into the missing piece

It’s not and easy path

But there also aren’t many stars available

It’s possible Boston pays brown and just works around the edges (ie trading vets who are expiring for cheaper guys)

This team hasn’t shown they deserve to be a super apron team…yet

The first order of business is deciding if not top 25 player jaylen brown should be the highest paid player in the nba

Or can you get scoot Henderson for him

Probably a multi team deal though
I think Scoot fits well there alongside Tatum.

Cmon man.

Scott Henderson for a guy you just said is about to get overpaid?

Stop it.

Rookies with star upside don’t get traded for vets. Really they don’t get traded at all unless for another similarly upside rookie.
In this case, Portland would do this to keep Dame and to try and get a championship from his closing window by adding Brown and maybe another piece. If Portland doesn’t do this, they run the risk of Dame saying he wants to be traded.

I think that’s Portland’s best path

But they’re loyal to dame

Yep...can pretty much make deals up as they go. No accountability. Seems like the big deals that end up happening are usually ones we don't see coming. Because in the real world, sports' FOs are like the CIA when it comes to real trade and draft intel.

Another problem this team has is health concerns. We now have three important guys... RWIII, Brogdon and Jaylen Brown... who always seem to be injured. Beyond that, Al Horford is ancient of days.

Guys. I believe we need a better distributor on the team. We cannot have Jayson Jaylen or Marcus and Malcolm as primary ball handles. Nor White.

I am intrigued to add a player like Tyrese Haliburton.

His salary is so low and Pacers will need to pay him big. Is there any trade with Indians that makes sense ?

I agree with the first half

Almost impossible on the second part

Pretty eventful (and positive) Draft season for Boston:
  • The headliner is the Zinger trade. He's a helluva addition to the frontcourt. The worry (and it's a big one) is health.
  • Shame about Smart, but this is a business... and it was probably time for a change. This move also frees up some minutes for Payton Pritchard, who has proven he can play in this league.
  • Smart also has a lot of wear and tear over his now long NBA career. He's an injury risk going forward too.
  • Regarding the draft proper... a bunch of wheeling and dealing from Brad Stevens. I approve. Our future draft capital stock had been significantly depleted, and the moves we made in the last couple of days largely rectified that problem. It may not be sexy... but it is competent, responsible planning for the future.
  • It should be remembered that the Celtics already have a couple of developmental youngsters... guards Juhann Begarin and Yam Madar... playing overseas. So we didn't necessarily need an excess of bodies out of this draft.
  • The one pick we did keep... 2nd round wing Jordan Walsh... seems like a solid choice. NBA body and athleticism. Let's develop his shot and see how it goes.
Now let's win a Championship.

I would’ve kept the gueye pick…and would’ve taken Rupert

They could’ve used another guy like that and they don’t fall from trees

Seems they pivoted hard after the blazers stupidly took Murray and let Dallas snag o max

One thing is for sure... Summer League won't be as interesting this year.

I heard both Begarin and Madar are staying overseas and won't be participating.

So we won't have a lot of young sizzle in play this time around.

That’s a bad sign

Unless the plan is told them there because of the new cba
