He averaged 300 yds a start his first season in Oakland. He had 4,000 yds in 14 games last yr. He was playing at over a 4500-4800 yd/season clip in Oakland.

4,000 yds in 2007 was much more difficult to achieve than it is in 2013. It's a different game now. With a pass happy coach and potentially the best group of WRs he's ever thrown I think 4500 yds is very, very reachable..

I'll man-up (is that one word?) if I'm wrong!

Best group of WR's? Outside of Fitz, no one on that team is proven. Floyd hasn't shown a lot yet and who else do they have?

Good points. 4500 isn't nearly as rare as it used to be and I do think the Arians/Palmer match is a good one. But I suppose the flip side is that Palmer will also be subjected to many more hits in Arians system. No guarantee that he'll be standing for 16 games.

Exactly. Ben rarely plays 16 healthy games and he is much more mobile and much tougher than Palmer.

Ben also always held the ball way longer than Palmer ever did, and it wasn't because of Arian's downfield offense.

It was Green Bay's defense, but the o-line held up nicely in pass protection.

Your right, Palmer won't hold the ball because he is afraid to get hit.

Floyd was a top 15 draft pick with 4.4 speed, great ball skills, prototypical size, etc

Now if he's your number 1 WR, that's a huge question mark because he hasn't had a big season yet in the NFL.. But as a number 2 playing next to a HOF caliber WR in his prime? That's lots of potential.. Andre Roberts is a really good # 3 slot WR..

Not to get into semantics, but I said "potentially" the best group of WRs he's played with... so I definatly think the potential is off the charts there

Floyd has to show something before he can even be considered as good as TJ was. Floyd has the skills but so did a lot of WRs who never make it.

Fitz is the best receiver in the NFL. Surely that counts for something. Who's the best he has had until now? Ochocinco maybe?

Don't mind him much. He has never been able to think objectively when it has come to a conversation involving Carson.

Ochocinco was probably the best WR in the AFC or close to it for a while

Don't mind flaming much, he has never been able to carry on much of a conversation because of Palmers dick so far down his throat.

I'm not getting involved with you guys beef, but I don't think ocho was ever all that close to a Fitzgerald. Near the top stats wise, sure, but he wasn't special. Fitz is special.

I'll put it in these terms...

If I could have either 2005 TJ or 2013 Floyd as the #2 WR for the Bengals this season, I'd lean towards Floyd because of his upside.. TJ was an excellent possession receiver, but that was the extent of it... Floyd could be a big play WR..
It's all about potential though..

Not to go OT, but the Pats offense looked scary tonight.. I was hoping they were finally due for a down yr (for them that's 10-11 wins).. doesn't look like that's happening

Exactly. Potential, which you don't know if he will hit. For the long term, sure I take Floyd, for this season, I'd take a known player who has put up 3 90 rec seasons, one of those being 112, 2 1,000 yard seasons another 4 with over 900.

I guess I'm bullish on Floyd. His rookie year was a wash because of poor QB play, but it wasn't bad.. 45 catches, over 500 yds.. I think he's going to be a dominant #2 WR who represents a mismatch.. TJ was productive, but he was never that type of player...

in my first post I acknowledged it was potential as opposed to production

And Floyd could be great, I agree, but I'd rather take TJ who is a proven #2 guy who has great hands over someone who hasn't put it all together yet.
