I wonder how much the blind bid was. I think they only had about $7 mil in room. Either way, he is a good player for that price of $7 mil or below.

That is good news if it is all true. Yea. Looks like we have a bevy of 6-10, 6-11 guys in the middle and Sacre is the only 7-footer. Our defense just got demonstrably better at least in the paint.

I think they only had a few million dollars in cap space. The minimum bid had to be around $1.5mil. I doubt their bid was much north of $2mil. Whatever it was, yes he's a good player for the price. Plus it's only a one year commitment.

I really like this signing. He's a solid 15/10 player which is just about right for what the Lakers will pay him.

He would also be a good mentor for the young bigs like Randle, Hill and Davis. Also, a 1 year deal, so the Lakers can re-sign him at a better price if he works out and they want to keep him.

That was the least surprising news of the day.
They wanted him. He wanted them.

They were willing to set the market at 7 million which only 2 other team could match.
They had the worst record in case of tied bids.

It would have been shocking to hear any other team get him.

This to me is the key
Allows the Lakers to kick the tires on Boozer just like with Lin

After striking out with Anthony and Lebron the Lakers have recovered and have made some solid off season moves in my opinion

They are not a championship squad but they'll compete

Yeah, just saw that. This impacts their space for bringing Swaggy back. He either has to take a little less, the Lakers have to dump Marshall, or the Lakers have to drop Kelly.

We have Boozer, Randle, Hill, Davis & Sacre at the 4 & 5. I sense a trade, Mitch has something up his sleeve.

what he'll bring is toughness and savvy...as was said he can be a tutor for Randle and Davis, the young bigs.

do you think they'll rely on Sacre to man the middle??

I don't know man...feel free to call me negative nancy but Lance Stephenson was sitting there at a very reasonable price. We could of gotten him at 2 years 9 per instead of Lin(I do like getting the draft pick however), let Hill walk, signed Ed Davis and then try to get Boozer. I don't expect that much from Boozer...I mean he's good for rebounds and can hit the occasional mid range shot

So they basically traded Gasol for Boozer, sort of...
