Two things sucked tonight...
(1) How the Caps played
(2) The Jets' fans - "Na na na na," booing Ovechkin - we're not rivals and this isn't a playoff series

I'm really tired of the jostled lines. STICK with the lines that work and let them develop some chemistry/consistency. Also, I like Eakin for the future, but I like MP85 out there instead of him or Halpern. He makes the 4th line more dynamic, especially with Hendricks. Get him in there.

Still early in the year, but it's frustrating how they look unbeatable in the first three weeks and now they look awful. The d-men really need to move the puck better. They look so confused at times and are making terrible turnovers in their zone. Carlson, Wideman... that's your dept. Step it up.

I know we joke about it, but Semin NEEDS to go. I honestly don't believe we can win a Cup with him. He is SO fucking dumb it's unbelievable. He passed to the point as a guy comes out of the box and the D-man leaves the zone. Seriously, who does that? How fucking dumb do you have to be to not go at the net there? I don't understand him. He does things (and I'm not trying to exaggerate) wrong that 11- and 12-year old kids understand how to do. Hockey basics.

Frustrating night.

This can pretty much be said about the Sabres right now as well. Well, excpet for the unbeatable part.

I feel your pain.

High expectations sometimes suck. It IS still early. Had to remind myself of that at 7-0 and again now.

Even though it is still early, and the team may be still doing pretty good over all, it's just the point of knowing the team is capable of doing a lot more, and you can't help but feel let down or frustrated.

They need to get their shit together and NOW.

I was talking about the Sabres right there, but feel free to think the same about the Caps if you want.

Again, it applies to both. We've lost 7 of 10. That should happen at NO point in this season.

Btw, noticed that Thorburn was VERY tentative when he and Erskine dropped the gloves tonight. I guess he remembers the last time they tangled...

I don't think Caps & Sabres fans have much to worry about. Both teams will be in the playoffs. Whether or not either of them make a long run is the big quesiton.

That's the thing, the Sabres look like they can make the PO's, but they don't look like a team who could win the Cup.

The one positive thing I've seen in the past week is Roy seems to have found his game. He was a point per game player before he got hurt last year. If he's back 100% it will be huge. Vanek is a different player this year. He's been great so far. We have to believe that Miller will get his act together. I don't see any reason why he won't.

I agree that I'd like to have MP85 in, but definately not over Halpy. Some nights he's the only guy I trust to win a faceoff. Over Eakin I can understand, but at the same time, if he is just going to sit out over half the games, then he should be sent down. Not saying it should or shouldn't be done, but I think the plan is to give him about 20 games and then send him back down kinda like what they did with MP85 last year and some other young guys in the past.

The D has been horrible since Green has been out (imagine that). Hamrlik is just plain slow, Carlson hasn't played as sound defensively like we are used to, Wideman is forced to play Green's role which is putting a lot on him concidering he has always been just alright in the defensive zone and doesn't have the ability Green has on the offensive end. The turnovers in the D-zone just aren't the defensemen either. Ward turned the puck over on the 2nd goal tonight and just before the Erskine fight and Backstrom made a horrible pass that would've been a great scoring chance had the fight not broken out.

The goals they gave up sucked tonight. On the 1st goal, the puck found its way (with a bad clear) through 4 caps onto Kane's stick. On the 2nd, like I said, Ward turned the puck over by just getting out worked on the boards. the 3rd was just Hamrlik being so god damn slow. I said earlier that it's worse for him becoming this slow late in his career because he has to adjust after doing knowing what he could do for so long. Hamrlik has been the worst Caps D-man this season and pile that on to his contract and losing Hannan to a 1 yr 1M contract and that's the most impactful move GMGM made and it sucks.

I guess on the positive side Schultz, Erskine, and Alzner have played pretty well, yes even Schultz

As to Semin, he's not going anywhere. Just won't happen.

okay
