And I am not busting on anyone that likes The Doors, I know a lot of people whose opinions I trust that like them. I just do not.

My least favorite band of all time is a favorite of a lot of people. I absolutely hate Led Zepplin.

I honestly do not know enough from Joplin to have an opinion.

Regardless of their perceived talent levels or how much I like/dislike them, I appreciate their legend status. Even Kurt Cobain, while I never thought he was that good, is still considered a legend of his time.

But I doubt Amy Winehouse will be talked about 20 years after her death. I may be wrong.

i think this may be more due to the modern music marketing strategy....the way the marketplace has been over saturated means that there isn't really one iconic figure (or even genre) that will define this generation like they have in the past

She will probably be in the Rock and Roll HOF some day. I can't figure out at times how people or groups get nominated for that place. Seems like a lot of politics to me.

There are people in there that I can't figure out why and some singers or groups that are omitted.

bite your tongue, old man! Kristofferson kicks ass.
granted, he's a better songwriter than he is a singer.

I actually kind of like Kristofferson as an actor too. Lone Star and Limbo in particular.

junkie headcase with a decent voice.

Soooo... basically.... Amy Winehouse = Jeff Conaway

Except Conaway (and I say this with full confidence in my heterosexuality) was far more ****able.

I wouldn't touch Winehouse with Jeff Sly's ****.

I'm assuming Pete Doherty will follow suit any week now.

and.. somehow... Gary Busey will outlive them all

I've never heard him sing, but has anyone ever seen Charlie Sheen and Amy Winehouse in the same room? I think we may have a secret double life thing going on here. Draw some tats on Charlie and slap on that wig...
Someone better go check in on the sober valley lodge, see if he's still there or not.

The only thing that Amy Winehouse has in common with Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix or even Kurt Cobain, is she died at 27. I listened to some of her music and the only word to describe it is boring. The only reason I even heard of her is the fact she's an odd looking junkie. Junkies usually die early unless your name is Keith Richard. May she be surronded by peace and love in the afterlife, but the planet did not lose a great one.

Keith Richards has actually been dead for about 18 years.
Mirrors and animatronics, we've all been duped.
Weekend at Bernies type stuff.

(side note: his book tells crazy drug tales, worth a read. Amazing that dude lived as long as he did. Except he did so many drugs that he has so much to say that the damn thing is lioke 15,000 pages long, i still haven't finished it. It's the fucking War and Peace of sex, drugs and rock & roll)

Amy Winehouse was a pretty big deal until Adele came out.

Ozzie Osbourne was the same way. I heard that Sharon saved his ass and got him sobered up or he would be pushing daisies as well.
