And some good new from the latest camps:

We have the returns of Doug Baldwin, Kam Chancellor, Bobby Wagner, Sidney Rice, and Jeremy Lane. Also joining the team were new receivers Early Doucet and Perez Ashford.

Marshawn Lynch is really starting to look BeastMode. Primed for a monster year. While Michaels has shown a lot of natural talent, everyone can notice that Lynch is at another level. Michaels needs to work on protecting the ball. He's fumbled twice when caught from behind recently.

Red Bryant is showing excellent form. Showing a lot of aggression at practice. He's even at full throttle during 1-1 drills.

WR and CB have incredible depth and competition going on right now and important decisions will need to be made when they make the roster moves.

DT Jordan Hill and DT/DE Jesse Williams are bringing it every day.

Alvin Bailey has been playing out of his mind and making a statement at being the #3 OT on this team.

Wilson mentioned they will be doing a lot of redzone drills this week getting ready for the 1st preseason game. Baldwin was catching everything Wilson was throwing at him.

Quinn and Jackson continue to battle for #2 spot.

Some interesting analysis of the potential roster by Brian Hemhauser who was interviewed on sports radio today.

Running Back
Marshawn Lynch, Christine Michael and Robert Turbin are locks. It is becoming increasingly difficult to imagine the team cutting Spencer Ware, and it is almost certain either Michael Robinson or Derrick Coleman will make the team as a fullback. Ware is just getting some reps now at fullback.

Wide Receiver
Even with Percy Harvin starting the year on PUP, it is hard to see a path to less than six receivers on the roster. Sidney Rice, Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate and Jermaine Kearse are locks. Stephen Williams is a strong contender, and then there are guys like Phil Bates, Bryan Walters, Chris Harper and Early Doucet fighting for the sixth spot. The team rarely runs four receiver sets, which is part of why they have only kept five in the past. My current projection is they surprise folks by only keeping five at this position. Bates could be stashed on the practice squad. Harper probably could not.

Linebacker
I initially had this as a tick down from last year at six linebackers instead of seven. The addition of O'Brien Schofield makes seven the far more likely number. K.J. Wright, Bobby Wagner, Bruce Irvin, and Schofield are locks. Allen Bradford and Malcolm Smith are safe. John Lotulelei is a sleeper I expect to knock Mike Morgan off the roster.

Safety
The team has kept five safeties the past few years. I am projecting they will steal a roster spot here in order to keep an extra running back or wide receiver. That would mean Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor are the locks, and Jeron Johnson and Winston Guy get the spots behind them. Chris Maragos and DeShawn Shead don't make the cut. Shead is practice squad eligible, and would be a likely addition.

A lot of that shouldn't surprise anyone, but the section on WR did. That's kind of a bombshell if that does happen to Harper. He was our 4th round pick. It seemed he had plenty of praise during the rookie and OTAs.

That's the thing about the off-season and preseason... Just when you think you know what a team is going to do, you find out that you don't know as much as you think you do. I mean, who here thought we were going to be as active in free agency as we were or that we'd make a trade for a 2012 MVP candidate and sign him to a long-term deal when the off-season first started? How many people then thought we'd lose that MVP candidate before preseason games even started, leaving us back where we started at the receiver position?

How many people assumed that Irvin would play Clemons' position, and only Clemons' position, until Clemons made it back and how many more people thought that even the possibility of Clemons coming back by week 1 of the regular season was ridiculous? How many people thought we'd be coming up with all of these cool defensive looks one day and then contemplating the loss, at least for a little while, of our other prominent pass rusher from last year a few days later? Hell... going back to last year, how many people truthfully thought that the quarterback we drafted in the third round would start the entire season and become a candidate for OROY or, for that matter, that the linebacker we drafted one round earlier would very nearly win DROY? Now we can't imagine life without Wilson on offense or Wagner on defense. You just never know.

Are we to take this to mean that Lynch is playing at another level compared to Michael or compared to himself last year? If it's the former, that's to be expected. If it's the latter... holy crap!

Lynch had over 1500yds last year and 11TDs. The man is hitting his prime like a ton of bricks falling on the rest of the NFL.

(From a Sundays camp report) -- Lynch does some things nobody else on this team, and few people in the league, can do. He made a jump cut today that must have been 3-4 yards laterally. That is not normal. It was also not normal that his cut put him in the perfect gap in the line due to elite instincts and vision, and led to a large gain. Normal for Lynch, but not normal for 95% of the backs in the NFL.

If Lynch plays better than he did last year, good luck to the 13 NFL defenses that have to try to stop him.

That was fast.

Early Doucet. Who was just signed Friday, was released by the Seahawks today.

He only practiced once as a Seahawk, on Sunday, and was apparently struggling with some injury. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters: “He’s been banged up and he’s got some issues that we’re still working with right now.”

Doucet was released with a "Failure to Disclose Physical Condition" designation. He was obviously trying to hide an injury and became obvious during his first practice something was wrong.

WR Charley Martin, who had been claimed off waivers from Seahawks to the 49ers, was waived by 49ers, and now claimed by the Jags.

It appears that the Seahawks are still looking to add to the talent pool at the WR position.

They had an available roster spot right now so why not. Appears PC wants maximum competition at WR before the 53 cut.

Turbin is BACK!!!

Robert Turbin participated in practice today for the first time this season, finally recovered from a nagging foot injury that dated to the June mini-camp.

Turbin said the injury was essentially just due to wear and tear and not the result of one specific incident.

“I just got to keep rehabbing it,” he said. “There’s a lot of bone healing things they have in the training room. A bone stem, a pulse-energy type stuff and anodyne that’s just specifically to the bone healing. I got to continue to do that even though I am out here practicing.”

“For me there was a sense of urgency,” he said. “They had a lot more patience than I did. That’s how it’s probably supposed to be, right? The players is always supposed to play, the trainers always want to keep you out until you feel like you’re 100 percent and ready to go. It’s a little bit of a love/hate kind of thing. I love them for taking care of me and being patient with me, but I hate them for taking so long.”

Turbin said of the impact of the injury that “I couldn’t make the same cuts. I couldn’t make the sharp cuts. … usually you can play through some injuries, some sores and stuff like that. But I couldn’t do the same things, which ultimately kept me out.”

Asked if he was 100 percent now, Turbin smiled and said “I feel good. If the Super Bowl was tomorrow, I’d play.”

Short practice today at 90 minutes total.

While Turbin was practicing today, Christine Michaels didn't with PC claiming he had some back spasms. Maybe for real, or maybe after the combination of the great performance against the Chargers and Turbin back, PC decided to rest him for an additional 1 or more practices this week. Let Turbin do his thing for while.

DL Jaye Howard sat out today. PC said he was sitting out due to some soreness in shoulder from a hit he took in the Chargers game.

TE Zach Miller and DE Cliff Avril are doing well in rehab and running, but no exact timetable on when they will return to practice field. Carroll says about two weeks.

OT/OG Bobby Carpenters foot issue may keep him out part or all of the preseason. Ugggh.......

Bruce Irvin was reported to be having good workouts and close to returning.

DL Tony McDaniel is also in workouts, but may take awhile to return to practice.

WR Brian Walters. Hamstring issue. Could be back to practice this week, but they are being conservative.

C Max Unger practiced today.

Fans saw a couple trick plays practiced, including Sidney Rice passing to Russell Wilson. Oh baby, please lets bust that out on SF when it's time to go for the jugular. FTW!!!

Moffitt got work at #1 RG tackle today.

Newly signed WR Donavon Kemp started practicing right away and made a TD catch during redzone drills. Wearing #87.

Training camp officially winds down today. This completes the public practice events as well. All things are set for the home game against Denver this weekend. But next week should be full of rumors as the roster cuts, they be coming. Seahawks have maintained the max of 90 through camp. This year, the official dates are 75 by Aug 27th (4 days after the GB game) , and 53 by Aug 31st (two days after the final preseason Raiders game).

Final numbers will be: 53 active/inactive, + 8 practice squad.

Chris Harper continues to struggle this week. I think it will come down to a situation that this is a team that is built to go to a super bowl and it's not the year to be dealing with long term developmental rookies. Other years, he would got the benefit of more time to mature into a NFL player with the Seahawks. But not this year. Too much competition for any roster spot. Sadly, signs continue pointing in the direction he could be cut, as there might not even be space for him on the practice squad. Quite a waste of a 4th round pick if that happens. But still a few more weeks for him to make the team or practice squad. Could happen.

But as new 2013 Seahawks who have a respectable chance at making the team or practice squad who came in with question marks: DE Benson Mayowa, LB John Lotulelei, WR Stephen Williams, DE/LB O'Brien Schofield, WR Arceto Clark, and WR Bryan Walters. What could really make the difference is who can also contribute on special teams when the final teams are announced. But the GB game could really be the last audition for them. That's what's going to make the next games so interesting. You're really going to see those players fighting for spots.

Sidney Rice takes more and more reps. He looks like's near 100% and close to ready, although he didn't officially practice today.

Robert Turbin is also taking more and more reps. Michaels will not be replacing his role anytime soon. Baring injuries, Turbin should continue to be the #2 in 2013. Michaels could be the future #1, but still plenty to develop to get to BeastMode levels.

CB Byron Maxwell has been practicing this week after he hurt his ankle in the Chargers game.

WR Jermaine Kearse had another solid week in camp. Will be great to see him make this team. Go Dawgs!!!

OT Alvin Bailey continues to play like a high draft round pick. Hopefully, it's for real and ends up one of those true steals of 2013.

DE Bruce Irvin still out. Don't think he'll be playing in the Denver game.

DE Cliff Avril practiced today, but limited. Same thing. Probably not out there for Denver.

DL Jaye Howard started practicing again after a heavy bruise to his shoulder during Chargers game.

WR Phil Bates, who tips the scales at 220, was getting some reps at Fullback later this week. Again, you got players who are trying to make the team and special teams/multiple position roles could make a real difference for bubblers.

DL Tony McDaniel continues to have injury issues which was his rep. He's becoming a longer shot at making this team. Jordan Hill and Jesse Williams will make that possible decision easier. Especially Hill. He's doing everything expected of him.

any update info on Zach Miller?

Nada. No word from Seahawks on his status the past couple days.

I'm not going to panic on that one yet. He's a vet and can miss preseason games. But you got to worry because of his injury history. That's the one every Hawk fan is going to be worrying about over these weeks, for sure.

BOOM!!!

The Seattle Seahawks are getting their starting tight end back on the field.

Zach Miller was activated from the team's physically unable to perform list on Friday. Miller has been recovering from a plantar fascia tear that he suffered during January's playoffs.

The roster move checks out with the timetable of coach Pete Carroll, who told reporters earlier this month that he hoped to have Miller available for the team's third preseason game.

It remains unclear if Miller will be active when the Seahawks meet the Green Bay Packers next Friday, but getting off the PUP list is a great start toward that goal.

The way he played in the playoffs, I can't wait to see what he does now that he doesn't have to pass block on every passing down.
