Freeney is 37 years old. He was a shell of himself last year. He did sack Brady in the SB and had 4 sacks during the regular season. I don't think he'd sign for the Vet min.

I'm cool with bringing Freeny in as a situational rusher but even if they do that they're still going to need Ealy and Guy to step up and play well. Thought they both did pretty well Sat.

Nink said the reason he retired was that his body was just not recovering from practices as well as it should. Also, I suspect, he may have lost some of the fire in his gut that made him so good for so long. If BB doesn't find someone currently on the roster to take up the slack, he could wait until cut down day and pluck the best candidate. That would, of course, mean a steep learning curve for the first few games.

Bottom line the Pats are a bit depleted on STs, this guy is a STs player and we gave up a 7th, heck this is a good deal.

Flowers replaces Freeny, nothing more. He is younger, faster, more athletic. He has played over 600 snaps on ST and less than 20 on defense.
