Agreed. One of the reasons that Auburn would NOT be chased is because of their problems with the NCAA and following the rules.

Enlighten me Charlie Auburn hasn't been under sanctions for 20 years.

Never, ever happen. The PAC 12 does not want religious schools at this time. AT ALL.

PAC 10 said no to Baylor and said no to BYU, took Colorado and Utah instead.

That was pure ignorance by both parties. Texas should have continued the talks and the PAC should have continued with Texas, OU, Tech, and OSU. Perhaps countered with Kansas, Kansas State, Texas, Tech, OU, and OSU. Big negotiations with big egos

Doesn't matter. Auburn is woven into the fabric of the SEC. Silly idea. Maybe Kentucky would listen to the Big, but I can't think of anyone else leaving

Florida, Georgia, and Vandy are the only ones who would listen.
Auburn maybe as well....but even less likely...

The Eastern division of the SEC has been marginalized a bit by political and philosophical diffrences.

They would never leave for a Big 12 invite. That would never be enough.
But, they might (longshot at best) listen to a solid Big 10 pitch.

An all academic league like the Big 10 with all its money and research grants could in theory attract Florida/Georgia/Vanderbilt.

Correct. BYU begged the PAC for years to let them join and they were absolutely crushed when the PAC took Utah instead. But the reasons were clear. Most of the PAC schools would always block BYU because of their "honor code" policies like segregation of the sexes and going so far as to kick athletes off teams if they are caught having premarital sex. What they did to Harvey Unga a perfect example.

Big12 has some schools with a heavy evangelical Christian presence, but they still don't take it that far. The Big12 doesn't want BYU for pretty much the same reasons.

The wealthy alumni base of BYU brings some benefits along with huge fanbase, but culturally, BYU brings way too much religious gaga with it.

That is the ultimate "irony" of the liberal accepting philosophy of certain Pac-12 schools.

The preach equality and diversity.
They pat themselves on the back for acceptance of all beliefs and cultures.

But, as long as that diversity is not an evangelical Christian.

I am not really political at all...and if anything I lean socially liberal.

But, It seems like the ultimate hypocrisy.

Another school I've thought about-------the Houston Cougars with their fancy new stadium. Are they satisfied in the American or would they lift their dress to a power 5 conference (particularly the PAC).

And if the PAC would consider getting into the Texas market by adding Houston and their new stadium.......who would be member #14 for the PAC........perhaps San Diego State?

Speaking of new stadiums.......Colorado State is planning a brand new on campus stadium. And Fort Collins, CO is only approx 65 miles north of Denver.......would the Big XII take a look at getting back into the Denver market? CSU is a large school with over 31,000 students.

Hmmm......would a package of three western travel partner schools to the Big XII be a possibility------Boise State, BYU, and Colorado State..........with a 14th member perhaps resulting in the Big XII entering SEC territory, such as Memphis or UCF?

Such a 14 member Big XII could be divided into EAST-WEST divisions:

WEST
Baylor
Boise State
BYU
Colorado State

TCU
Texas
Texas Tech

EAST
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Memphis or UCF
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
West Virginia

And about slicing that Big XII pie into 12 or even 14 slices.

Think long-term growth by adding new members. In other words, sure the pie will be cut into more slices.....but.....in the long run, the pie will eventually be much bigger. Just look at what the SEC and B1G did.......their pies will eventually be much bigger.

If the Big 12 were to actually go after a SEC team, it should be Florida. They are getting screwed by the rest of the SEC with the annual LSU rivalry.

says who? only one complaining about this game is les miles....
and thinking florida would ever leave the sec for the big12 is ludicrous.

I agree with your statements, but LSU doesn't like UT. Back in '95 and '96, the SEC was looking at a&m as a member, but LSU was vetoing UT and it fell through.

where do you get this stuff? only thing regarding texas schools ive ever seen is that sec was interested in texas and fsu in the original 92 expansion. texas balked because they wanted aTm to come too. and the then commissioner blew the fsu deal. ended up settling for arky and usc.

I knew A&M was thinking about joining the SEC back in the '90's before the Big 12 formed.

The Pac liberals need to get over BYU being a religious institution. They dislike Mormons but totally overlook the brainwashing school of hate that is California Berkeley.

BYU would've been alot better for the conference than Utah getting on their hands and knees and allowing the other school presidents to bend them over and a bankrupt Colorado athletic program.

Not a word of truth in any of this - from an alumn of 2 of these schools and close family ties to the other. The SEC East hasn't been marginalized at all, and none of the schools you list would think for a second about leaving the SEC. Other than your ass, where do you get this stuff? Jeez.

It was supposed to be Utah, Colorado, Texas, OU, Texas Tech and T. Boone Pickens. The hangup was Texas politics, the LHN and a last minute push back against it by the television powers.

Utah and Colorado make sense for the Pac 12 because it puts them in SLC and Denver.

BYU and Baylor will never be in the Pac. Period. They aren't taking schools with religious agendas. Even Notre Dame would get turned down.

Before ND fans get butt hurt, let me add "Hypothetically". Just mentioned to illustrate that unless there is a major shift, no religious school will be allowed in. Notre Dame would probably have no interest in the Pac 12 as well.

byu question aside, only expansions that makes true sense for big12 is florida. after all all this latest mess is just about markets and money. And at this point id imagine ucf/usf is a package deal, but they would need more eastern partners to make it worthwhile. big12 blew it in regards to expansion when they sat on their hands instead of making full court press on louisville.

UGA and UF would make twice as much money in the Big 12 than they would in the SEC. Today, it's all about money. History and tradition do not mean dick anymore. UGA and UF would be able to create their own networks and make three times more money then they could ever dream of in the SEC. This scenario isn't out of the realm, since today it's all about MONEY! I hate it, can't stand it, but that's how it is.
