Maybe, but like I said before, Marcus Lattimore (when healthy) is the best RB in the country.

Couldn't agree more.....

In fact, I have a thread I started somewhere around this joint all about how good I believe Lattimore is. I find him comparable to Lawrence Phillips minus the ability to drag women down the stairs by the hair

Yeah, LP with 20 extra pounds and the ability to catch out of the backfield like Faulk or Tomlinson

I personally would take Rex Burkhead over Monte Ball any day............I really would

I understand loyalty, but this is sort of crazy. Montee is just plain better. His vision is the best in the country, he is just as fast, breaks just as many tackles, and blocks better. I could understand the logic if Montee was some punk, but he isn't. He is one of the best spoken players in America, has a very good GPA in a pretty tough major here, has a great family structure (who actually moved to Madison to support him), and he gets along great with teammates. Burkhead is a great team leader, but i'd still take Ball in that regard.

I just don't buy this. He had 4.8 YPC in 2010 and only 5.0 last year, a number which was inflated because of a huge game against Navy. I've seen Lattimore many times, and he just doesn't do it for me. I'd rather have Burkhead than Lattimore. They are pretty even as players IMO, and Rex is a better leader and doesn't have injury concerns.

First of all, this is a football conversation. Who Ball is off the field means dick. LP is one of the worst people ever but what he did in the football field would make Ball look like me out there.

Second, get off the YPC stat. Look at it all you want but don't only look at that. Lattimore played 6 full games last year and had 800 yards rushing. Plus look what he does in the receiving part of the game. As a freshman he averaged 14 yards per catch. The fact that he has been doing all this as a true freshman in 2010 in the best conference in the country says a lot as well.

It's more based off of the eye test than anything else. Lattimore is a ridiculous athlete, but Ball picks his spots so much better, and the numbers show it.

Also about Ball, this is a guy that struggled to even get in the field 2 years ago.

I am not trying to trash Ball because he has lost the weight and turned himself into a great RB but I just think Lattimore is that guy I would take more than any other back in the country but I wouldn't be pissed if I was left with Ball.

SEC has better defenses than tne BiG.

Nothing against Ball but I'd take Lattimore.

I agree w/ stool. If you inserted Burkhead into Ball's (LOL BALLS) spot last season he would have roughly the same production... But he'd also probably have some more receptions and they'd be able to use him in a lot more ways.

That line Ball was running behind is any college running back's dream.

so

burkhead = ball in running, but burkhead >> ball all around.

^^ I can agree with this.

btw...burkhead off the field >>>> ball off the field. (but both are very respectful commendable people it seems - not knowing either personally).

Michael should be able to overcome the race issue tho.. cause everyone calls him Rex, and Rex is a cool name.

I think what makes Rex so good is his balance, football IQ, and great hands.

The guy has seriously unbelievable balance. I remember seeing his HS tape and it was obvious his game translated to College just because he was always low and moving forward. He just has a solid base and it's hard to knock him down or get him in a position where he'll fall to the ground.
