Series Thread: Bucs at Reds

The first game was a 3-1 victory, and the Giants lost, so we have locked up home field in the wildcard play-in game.

Since St. Louis also won, and since they're playing a terrible team in the Diamondbacks, it seems unlikely we can win the division. We may want to save Liriano and Cole now. I haven't looked to see if any such announcement has been made, but I would probably throw Cumpton tomorrow and Gomez on Sunday or something like that.

We're sending Liriano out today. But Martin will get a day off, at least.

Liriano didn't look good in the first. 3-0 Reds.

We've got Marte at 3rd with one out, though. And Mercer brings him in with a groundout, which almost turned into a hit.

Well, the bats showed up today, that's for sure. 6-4 Bucs going to the bottom of the 7th.

Holdzkom gave up his first two runs. Not a bad pitch, but Frazier's power is real, and he went the other way with it.

Might have been a different story had he gotten the pitch on the corner called a strike. At the knees, on the outer edge, pretty clearly in the zone, and the next pitch he brought up from there in a 3-0 count, and it got hit out.

I dont pitch Cole tommorow, even if the Cards lose.

i would pitch cole on sunday, that way he will pitch game 2 on normal rest and lliriano go in game 1 on fri.
let volquez pitch on wed. he has been our most consistent pitcher so far. frankie has a low era but often walking many guys. against poor teams(the last month, that is OK), but against playoff teams, trouble.

wed volquez, fri cole or liraiano, sat cole or liriano, game 3 volquez (as should be a day off between 2 and 3 giving him hi 4 rest days.
