Pettine will have this team humming He coached Revis and the Jets and did nice things with Buffalo...Just because he isnt a big name doesnt mean a bad things...Listen to Bills players talk about him. Almost similar to Zimmer.. And the fans are pissed he is gone.... We will lose to the Browns in 2014 as well!

He was the Browns 5th choice (at least). And forgive me for not being impressed that he coached Revis. That's like hiring Peyton Manning's qb coach and pointing to Manning's success as a predictor of future coaching success.

It was a dumb move. You dump two very good coordinators, Turner and Horton, on a young team that needed continuity. Now they have to start all over again under another unproven guy. Dumping Chud only made sense if they had an established target in mind.

They're Cleveland -- This is just what they do. Nothing new to see here.

BTW -- Go back and look at the early posts on the SportsHoopla. People have been calling for Cleveland to be good for YEARS! It never happens.

can't disagree.

They will be good when the are actually good. I'm tired of this "talk" about them being good. Hell, everyone was on their bandwagon this year after a 1 game winning streak, in which they promptly got smacked by the Bengals.

Also, some of those guys are going to be F/A soon enough. Why would you want to stay there when you can go to a contender? That defense is good now, but I think Haden is long gone, unless they can tag him. Same with a few other players.

can we just go back to ignoring the browns, they have become so irrelevant that they might as well pack up and move to LA, no one will miss them now.

The Browns successfully replaced Chud, Turner and Horton with two guys nobody has heard of and one guy that everyone hates.

The Factory of Sadness.

It'd be great karma if their GM and team president got fired because of the backlash caused by Chud getting the ax after only a yr.

That still has to be the most bizarre coaching tenure I can remember. The Browns had won 5 or less games in each of their past 5 seasons. They trade their starting RB in September and have a revolving door at QB.. and then fire their coach after a 4 win season. What were the expectations?

I am a bit disappointed that we won't get to see if they really were going to sell the farm for Manziel. That was either the most over the top smoke screen or the worst front office info leak in recent memory.

I think the thing that would scare me if I were a Browns fan is that Haslam is showing early signs of being a Dan Snyder type.... No real longterm plan - Instead, a few scattered thoughts here and there leading to bold decisions (some that will work and most that won't). I'll admit that while I didn't get the Chud firing, a part of me figured they had some grand plan in the works that would bring a proven winner. Instead they're left with an inferior coaching staff and the B team in the front office. I can't imagine any of their young talent wants to stick with this operation.

Sources: Browns nearly traded with 49ers for Jim Harbaugh | ProFootballTalk

This makes complete sense..... The Browns thought they had a shot at Harbaugh, they play their hand and lose, they end up with an inferior coaching staff, and the GM gets fired for fucking up the franchise. They had extra draft picks..... They had no real reason to get rid of Chud and two good coordinators unless they thought they had a proven coach. I think this explains everything.

Harbaugh (Jim) is the best coach in football so good thing that hypothetical deal fell through.

Also if you want to get deeper into a conspiracy theory, Lombardi (the fired Browns GM) and Harbaugh were both part of the Raiders organization in the early 2000's so that adds to the idea that they knew each other well enough for a covert deal to be discussed.

I remember thinking when the news broke that Chud had been fired that they were going after a big name coach. Jon Gruden made sense, but Harbaugh makes perfect sense

With the Texas Longhorns taking a ridiculous amount of time to hire a coach I wouldn't be shocked if they were being strung along as well.
