From multiple reports, former Ginats closer Brian Wilson has chosen to sign with the Dodgers.... not sure how I really feel about this.

Worth a shot... Though his numbers aren't spectacular

Career: 20-20, 171 SV (63rd), 3.21 ERA, 340 SO, P, 3xAllStar, Giants 2006-2012, t:R, 1x SV Leader

Brian Wilson is a liability. The Giants must be laughing their ass of for spreading cancer to the Dodgers. I predict the Dodgers pick up Flablo Sandofat at the deadline next year. His weight will be 320 but his average will be half that.

The tentative plan for Wilson is to begin at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona, then go to Rancho Cucamonga as part of a rehab assignment, and then report to the Dodgers in two weeks, tweets Brown. In theory, the move could take the Dodgers out of the running for other, similar relievers available for trade.

This is crazy, but I kinda like it.

Are you speaking of the deal, or of Wilson himself? I have to ask, as both pretty well fit.

To me, this is a fine signing. With one BIG stipulation. That being, that the Dodgers have no plans on having him close for them. If he does, say as an injury replacement, then fine. But, if this is a move to challenge and or unseat Jansen, then this move sucks.

I am already reading that the Dodgers have a 2 week plan for him to play in the minors, and, if all goes well, he will be with the big club mid-August.

Maybe this will work out, but on principle I am personally opposed to bringing on anyone who has ever worn orange and black. I can't think of many (any?) examples where this has ever been good for the Dodgers.

:agree: It's going to be sickening to see this selfish creep in Dodger blue.

After a quick search, I could not find any good examples either. What I have done though is provided a link, so you can check it out, and see if you can find a former Giant, that turned into an even better Dodger.

The only former Giant that I liked having was Brett Butler. He was pretty much the same player for both clubs.

The worst former Giant ever acquired by the Dodgers was Juan Marichal. I did not like Marichal; especially after he hit Johnny Roseboro over the head with a baseball bat. When he made his first appearance for the Dodgers, the crowd stood and booed him. It was a fitting greeting for the bum.

I do not want to see Wilson wearing Dodger blue and I expect him to be a constant injury risk. And, I hate his beard. I say no way should the Dodgers waste time and resources on this flake.:wtf2:

I'm not even a Dodgers fan and it's going to make me sick. That foolish beard and skin-tight pants of his. :rolleyes2:

I'm sure Colletti is hoping for a lights-out setup man but I think he's going to regret this.

I think it's fine. They were going to add a veteran righty reliever anyways so I prefer this gamble over traded away prospects for some random reliever from the Marlins or something.

It's a very low-risk move. If he sucks you just DFA him. No big deal.

If he is simply someone who can be used to bolster the bullpen, I am all for the move. Like it was said earlier, if he is being brought with the mindset that he might replace Kenley, then it is STUPID. At this point, anything that can get Brandon League out of pitching the 8th, I am for.

Also read another interesting rumor of a possible trade between 2 teams that normally do not trade. Rumor is the Angels have talked to the Dodgers about their interest in Howie Kendrick. Depending on the price, I would LOVE that deal. Dude is a better defender and all around hitter than Ellis, he is younger and relatively cheap. Could be a fun 24 hours

I have always liked Howie Kendrick, but I wouldn't give up a top notch prospect for him.

Frankly, I would concentrate on bolstering the BP (other than dipshit Brian Wilson) and leave the formula that is working alone.

Remember, in September the rosters expand and you get to have like 20 guys in the bullpen if you want. If two weeks in August of Brian Wilson in LA means 2 weeks of Carlos Marmol in Albuquerque, this is a win.

Wow. With League still on the roster, and now with Marmol & Wilson in the minors, I think the Dodgers now lead the league in having the most washed up closers.

League has looked much better in his recent outings. And we don't know if Wilson is washed up, yet.

Still, I would rather have guys on the rise, instead of guys that have all very likely peaked talent wise.
