I think it's a puss move. What's the point of being in a conference if you aren't going to include your football team?

I get it. They want their other sports teams to compete in a conference.

:clap2: You thought about it really hard, and you figured it out yourself! Great job! Why would we want to join the ACC for football? I'm bummed we have to play 5 of those teams, well actually we already play 3, but still...2 more :puke:.

Can I ask why Wisconsin and VT fans are bashing ND's schedule? :pound: It's hysterical...

Hey Smart, thoughts on the debacle at Pitt??? I told you it would take some time, but do you think Wisconsin may try and get their old OL coach back?

Our old OL coach left Pitt to be in the NFL (our old TE coach is their OL coach). He's supposedly almost as good.

I've already said that I want Bob Bostad (old OL coach) to come back. If making him OC and giving him play calling abilities is what it takes, do it. Wisconsin's whole team revolves around the O-Linemen, so we'll continue to lose if they don't get back to our standards.

What do you want to bet that their "historic independence" keeps them out of the playoffs? Even playing 5 ACC schools won't be enough to satisfy the other conferences to give ND a pass like they got for the BCS.

Um what? I could pull up article after article saying the Conference presidents and ND's AD showed up to talk about the new playoff structure, we're right in on the talks. Playoffs won't force us to join a conference.

Again Smart, YOU were the one who started talking about schedules and YOU were the one who said ND's schedule was 'the best' Why not quote those?

Since you're looking at ND's entire schedule (you have to, they're all OOC) we'll look at VT's entire schedule as well

just looking to regular season

2011 -
ND played #15 MSU, and #6 Stanford -

VT played #13 Clemson, #21 GT -

2010-
ND - #16 Stanford, #14 Utah

VT- #3 Boise State, #23 NC State, #24 Miami

2009-
ND - #6 USC, #12 Pitt

VT- #5 Bama, #19 Nebraska, #9 Miami, #19 GT

2008-
ND- #22 UNC, #5 USC

VT- #25 FSU, #23 Maryland

and so on, their schedules arent bad....but they arent exactly the toughest either

Sooo....Michigan wasn't ranked when they won a BCS bowl last year? I know you missed some of the ranked teams ND played...but it's cool, I'm too lazy to look back for them anyway.

Except that you bashed their schedule. Who talked about the schedule first is totally irrelevant (and for the record, GITM strongly implied they had a weak schedule, or at least that it wasn't better than the ACC schedule). Multiple people dissed the SOS of Notre Dame when they are constantly in the top fifteen and are currently #1. It would be the equivalent of making a post about how Alabama is an awful football program.

Is no one in the ACC a little pissed that your auto-bid can be stolen by a Notre Dame with a worse record? They only have to be within one win of the best ACC team and they get the auto-bid over the conference champ.

You guys are really good with that?

No, we are not ok with the blatant favoritism and unfairness of the "within 1" rule, but I don't think that applies to the BCS bid.

:L That's not how it works, that's been stated multiple times in this thread. Poor effort. It's set up the same way it was when we were in the BE.

post 48 should clear up my stance on everything for you.

They won't get the BCS bid, but can get our hire tier non-BCS games if they are within 1 win. And I don't think anyone is cool with that, but I think this was already a rule in the ACC, allowing for example, the Chick-fil-a bowl to take the 2nd best team in a division instead of the conference championship game runner up. However, since ND will never be in the Conference Champ game, it doesn't make sense that they should eligible.

Irony for ACC would be if ND gets picked for CFB playoff over an ACC champion that won league title game.
