I agree Sooner. I think that ND will be on the wrong side of the politics this time around, given their football prowess has diminished ... and I think that it could eventually lead to full membership ... quite a ways down the line.

As soon as their NBC TV contract runs out, I fully expect ND to become a full member of the ACC.

I think this also puts pressure on other conferences, like the Big East and Big 12 in particular. They both now HAVE to expand. The pickings is slim though.

The Big12 now has Louisville, Cincy and BYU on the line. The BigEast has anyone who will listen...

When they load their 'conference' schedule with BC, Pitt, Wake, and Syracuse, I have no problem calling it wimpy. I have a strong feeling VT, Clemson, and FSU may see ND once every 5 or 6 years.

BC, wake, Pitt, and Syracuse are typically better than most teams OOC schedule. They're almost always better than fcs teams and not really any different than conference bottom dwellers that all conferences have.

I assume that ND will continue with the regular games against Pitt and BC, and then play 3 teams of the other twelve in home and homes that will alternate. This (I assume) will count as a non-conference game for the ACC school and drop their OOC schedule slots down to two.

I think this is the next step until ND joins the ACC. ND wants to keep their independence for as long as they can and the ACC is the conference that will let them do it until they are force to join a conference and ND will fully join because they are basically already in it. At least that's what I hope.

Its a perfect fit, because the ACC offers the academic standing that ND wants.

Read the link I posted in post #54. ND will play each team at least every 3 years.

Only Notre Dame could play the hardest schedule year after year and have it called a "wuss move" that they don't join a conference which would make their schedule ten times easier.

Not really, but OK.

If you were to give Notre Dame odds to win each individual game this year and multiply out their chance of going undefeated, i'll bet it is about 1/10 as likely as it would be with a pure ACC schedule.

This is asinine; IF Notre Dame were to join the ACC as a football member, they would certainly keep the USC and Michigan games and would likely play Miami and Pitt every year as they would be placed into the Coastal. That also means they would be VT and GT every year and would get FSU and/or Clemson every 3-5 years. Check the conference power rankings and you might be surprised to find that the B10 is now behind the oh-so-pitiful ACC.

Oy, so they are killing the annual games with Pitt and BC? I assume they would have to.

Sounds like it. I guess they could still play them on years that they aren't in the rotation of ACC games and play them as OOC games.

I forgot Clemson. Sorry.

Florida State won't be ranked when you play, but we'll save that argument for another time.

I love it; shit talking from a fan who's team should've been shut out against Oregon State...

I blame the ACC for letting them do it. They're enablers. ND is of course going to try to get the extra benefits and rules as long as they can.

The conferences need to stop treating them like they're special.

In this day and age, it's all about the money. Notre Dame brings a shit load of money to the table.

:L

Way to get me excited. Now there's still the unfortunate possibility that they could one day pollute my conference.

 really? ND has avoided the B1G since Michigan blocked us for joining in the late 1800s, they don't want to join, dont flatter yourself.

This would make perfect sense if I had Wisconsin ranked...but I don't.
