Don't look now, guys, but in his last seven full games plus today's game is 1.118.

Sure, it's a small sample, but it's certainly encouraging to see him get a little hot lately.

And Bedard is tossing a nice game right now. Seven strikeouts through four innings is nothing to sneeze at.

I miscalculated that OPS.

Regardless, he's at 1.155 now.

I would gladly accept being wrong about Pedro

He really is the key this year. If this is for real, and he keeps hitting, this offense will start to look competitive, and our pitching is already at that level.

If both the pitching and the hitting are going, this team can compete for the Central, and certainly at least make a run at .500.

Bedard's curveball is silly. Just falls off the end of a table. When he is locating it, he's unhittable with that pitch. I love watching him work. Awesome to have this good of a pitcher in the rotation.

That is the difference between a real major league pitcher and what we have had in the past. 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and Eric Bedard strikes out two consecutive hitters to get out of it. In the past we only hope to get out of that with 1 run allowed. Instead we keep oir three run lead and have momentum going into the next half inning. So to tjose who believed that Eric Bedard wasn't an upgrade over Paul Maholm, there is your proof. It is also the reason i would rather have him for 15 starts this year than a full season of Maholm.

Agreed on all counts. Bedard's stuff is fantastic. I wish he had been more efficient today, but I love having a guy who can miss bats with regularity in our rotation.

I've never seen a team run into a double play before. That was a nice stroke of luck for us.

Man, Grilli has been really impressive so far this year. That was a fantastic inning he put together right there.

I don't recall anyone who thought that we should choose between Bedard and Maholm. I personally thought we should have them both. That was before we acquired Burnett though. Burnett's arrival made Maholm's departure a moot point.

Indeed. Burnett+Bedard >> Bedard+Maholm >>> Just Bedard > Just Maholm.

Man, if Pedro can keep this going, keep growing in confidence & even expand on what he's been doing & we can just get the bats going consistently, we might have the start of something here.

Pitching wise, I said it the other day in a post. I feel that this rotation right now, this yr, is much better than the one that pitched so well in the 1st half last yr.

Burnett & Bedard, nothing needs to be said. Morton is looking healthy & promising, JMac, the same. KC has been good.

If we can get Jeff Karstens back healthy & pitching well soon, this has the makings of a damn nice rotation. We can compete in this division this yr, with pitching like this.

I like the Pen with Cruz & Grilli as well.

Let's get it going with the Bucco bats. I am starting to feel very optimistic.

PS Great catch by Tabata at the wall tonight to save the win.

It's Great to have those 3 sets of legs in the OF

This is exciting from Pedro. I know it's a small time that he's been hot, but did he even have a single stretch similar to this last season?

The pitching has been outstanding, no question. Would be nice to get a catcher to hit .270 and bat 7th or 8th.

The only other pitcher in the National league with more road wins than Kevin Correia since 2011 is Roy Halladay

how did cutch make an error on a catch. then how does he allow both runners to advance on a routine fly ball to straight away center. lucky the next batter didnt drive them both in. seems like those are the mistakes we make in the field, and when we are on offense, we get thrown out on those plays or arent aggressive w=hen we can be getting an extra base.

Lincoln looked awfully impressive cleaning up that mess.
