I wish the 49ers would shit or get off the pot with this guy. I hope he doesn't leave but they need to get him in camp and at the very least make him play out the last year of his contract. He can be a key contributor again if he wants to be

Everything you said is correct HOWEVER............................

Technically he is under Contract but don't think any player of significance, plays out his contract. They ALL want a big new contract extension and we can't blame them.

IMO they'll get it done and it'll be big numbers, but that's the NFL market. Next off-season will see more "Names" like Armstead, leave.

Armstead leaving doesn’t bother me at all. I was so tired of seeing him have the quarterback sacked in his grasp and letting them get away.

I agree he’s going to be in for a big surprise when he gets to a team that doesn’t have Kittle, McCaffrey and Samuel to take the heat off of him
Yep, playing for this current offense enables him to obtain good stats. He could beat these stats on another team depending, but then he may not if offensive UNIT isn't good.

NFL WR's WANT the heat and they want to get the ball every time they pass it. But wanting and executing are two different matters.

Anyway, IMO it'll get done and BA will play this season as a 49er.

Was this deal Too Much? I was hoping for a 1st and 2nd rounder as they were seeking two 1st but veterans almost never bring back big returns. Stay with the team with a big upfront it might make him tradeable next year, if he has another really good year. :noidea:

Looked at by itself this deal wasn't too much IMO, but we're 49er fans and look at all the other stars TOO. The 49ers are committing to these top players (Deebo also got more bonus) for the next 2 years or so, but it all comes due sooner or later.

Next, what's to stop Kittle, Warner, etc to step up and ask for new contracts? Its very hard to lose players like Aiyuk, but there's a limit to how much you 'cave in'. Why, because It'll start a bad precedence for other top players and new top players.

The only way to stay out a BIG cap mess is to draft successfully. This year's draft APPEARS to be a good example as these guys look like GOOD players, not just NFL players. This is when we realize why you draft towards the BPA side, not towards Need.
