hes going to make bobby bonilla look like a poor financial planner by comparison

deal wont be voided, yankees will have to pay him off

I'm 100% for getting it voided...the bullet proof nature of the guaranteed contracts needs to come to an end for the health of the game...these guys make for too much nowadays...

If you haven't checked out this site before...do so...they've got some pretty hysterical bits...

Falcons Coach Uses Phrase, "Yes, Seriously" 17 Times While Announcing Matt Ryan Contract - ProFootballMock.com - ProFootballMock.com

posted this late yesterday:

at home hes 33-5 in his career, 23-17 on the road

interestingly:

in 2 more road than home games (40 road vs 38 home), hes thrown for 1600 more yards, 7 more TD's (67) and 8 more INT's (34) vs his home numbers (approx 30 more YPG) and his road YPA goes up from 2.18 at home to 2.76 on the road

basically, hes not as bad on the road as people think...but his team is

weird one

The question becomes, what happens if he's not banned for life (which I don't believe he will be) and they can't get the contract voided (I think they'll try but it'll be tough)...what the fuck do the yankees do if he chooses not to retire? Do they just buy him out? $86m guaranteed remaining? Think they'd almost have too...and then he'll get the bonds treatment and complain owners are colluding against him to keep him out of baseball...

So a suspension is without pay, correct?

A banning for life wouldn't void the contract?

I was under the wrong impression

A banning would void it...as does a suspension...

lifetime ban seems incredibly unlikely, he's never been suspended and the spirit of the CBA in regards to PED punishments is a scaled approach...I think it's going to be a 1 year suspension...which the Yanks would be off the hook for his salary..

I think their plan is to buy him out, which is why they're trying to keep him on the DL as long as possible, so insurance pays his salary this year, suspension next year..and then they're "only" on the hook for about $62m over the final three years...which I think they'll pay to make him disappear for ever..

Makes sense the defense would play better at home

especially a dome team.

Can't say I blame him...$86m dollars on the line would turn most into complete assholes trying to protect it...

This reminds me of the Albert Belle situation...chose not to retire and spent the last 2-3 years on the 60 day DL cashing in about $36m worth of Peter Angelos's money...

Makes a good point.

Only, the yankees consider Phil Hughes and Joba Chamberlain to be pitchers.
