With Hoyer only under contract for this year I'd be pretty surprised if they don't draft one. As I said in another thread I won't be shocked if they take one in the 1st to gain the 5th year option knowing they've got another pick 8-10 spots later. A lot of intriguing guys, all need work. I like what I've seen of Falk. Kinda meh on Rudolph. If Josh stays long term I'd kinda love to see what he could do with Jackson.
I think a lot depends on what TB is telling RK & BB about when he wants to retire. NE has got a taste of winning and tgey like that. I see NE jumping into the FA market for a big name QB once that day comes.

As for this draft that kind of depends on what grades BB puts on all the QBs.

Maybe Josh can take the Indy job and can trade Jacoby back to us...LOL

But, in all seriousness, why would Josh go to Indy and Matty P to the Giants? Collins just said he would not want a BB type coach, well that is Matty P. Why would Josh go to Indy with that cluster fuck of a front office and the team that started deflategate?? I can't see any of these things happening.

As for a QB?? I can see BB trading up in the first if there is a guy he likes. He should be able to do that with their 1st an the SF pick in the 2nd. Not sure who, I honestly never thought QB until Jimmy was traded. Lets hope TB can hold up for the next 2 yrs. One scenario I keep thinking about is if Brotles if let go or tradeable if Eli goes to Jax. I know BB liked Bortles and would have taken him over Jimmy had he slide down, he obviously didn't, but that seems to stick in my head. Not sure what BB thinks of him now. Plus you also have the backups in Pitt (Landry Jones) and Cinn (McCarron) who might makes sense. I can't see Pitt letting Jones go with Big Ben about to hang it up. IDK...guess well see in a few yrs when TB final calls it a career.

Belichek isn't the only one making decisions in the draft. Nick Caserio has a College Scouting Director and she sits right outside his office. Yes, SHE!!!! She controls a group of people who spend the entire college season looking at the players who 'fit' the Patriots system and have the intelligence and skill sets. Who the hell really ever heard of Jimmy Garapollo before the Patriots drafted him?? Or Malcom Butler?? Or Julian Edelman??

Don't be surprised if the Patriots draft a quarterback in the 5th or 6th round from Tacumseh State. 99% of us will be saying, "Who the hell is that?"

Everyone has tabbed Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield and couple of others as the next group of 'can't miss' quarterbacks. It'll be interesting as hell how many of these guys will really be starting within the next 3-5 years.
Every time I hear "can't miss" I think of the that great QB that teams were gushing over....Ryan Leaf. End of story.

I read teams were trying to contact or steal away the Pats College Scouting Director. And I agree a lot of the so called experts are high in the 3 you mentioned. Mayfield scares the hell out of me, I just wonder about him at the next level. I like Mason Rudolph but not earlier then the late 2nd as I see him as a project, but a project with a lot of potential.

Monti Ossenfort is the college scouting director and pretty sure he's not a woman. I assume you're thinking of Nancy Meier who is the director of scouting administration. The only control she has over the scouts is making their travel arrangements (among many other things, so I don't mean for that to detract from what she does as much as that sentence sounds like it does...no doubt it's a huge job, but she has nothing to do with picking players).

Please show me where I said she did.....

When I did some work in Casserio's office, she was Director of College Scouting and that was the plaque on her office. That was about 8-9 years ago. I don't know if her name was Nancy Meir or what. I just remember her sitting at her giant desk with four screens stacked on top of it.

I see that BK said "a woman" 8 or so years ago, and not "that woman".

"A woman" who is the college scouting director, controls the scouts, is part of the group that makes decisions on the draft, but has nothing to do with picking the players.

Also, the curent director of college scouting is a dude, Monti Ossenfort. His predecessor was Jon Robinson, and prior to him was Thomas Dimitroff, both also dudes.

Who did they report to???

All I know, is what I "SAW", not heard or anything else.

I have been in the lower levels of Gillette. I have been on Coaches Row. I have been in Belichick's Assistant's office. I have been in Bill Belichick's office. I have been on the Third floor in Nick Caserio's office. All I can say is what I saw and what Nick Caserio said to me. I have talked with Josh McDaniel, Ivan Fears, Nick Caserio and Bill Belichick. I did insurance work for an "unnamed" insurance company for the New England Patriots football staff. My information is 8-10 years old and I've never seen anything since where that woman was fired, quit or is working anywhere else.

If anyone has more up to date, accurate or different information....fine. If anyone has been in the inner sanctum of Gillette Stadium more recently, please share your experience with us.

Lots of strong opinions on here.

Mine? I would easily take Brady to start next year. Not so easily count him as my only QB option for next 3 years.
2 years? Kind of like deciding if the Pats can cover the 13.5 point spread today.
They'll probably do it but it is still a bad bet.....

The way he looked last night, the risk looks a little less risky. Pats use sandbagging as a major part of their strategy, even if it occaisionally blows up in their face. I think the Dolphins game might have been just that...

The only thing that would make this a bad trade was if now TB is pissed and decides to call it quits. I don't see him doing that to Kraft but you never know?

I think Brady retires once he has every meaningful record, the the TDs in a season probably will stay. Drew Breeze may have something to say about the yardage records.

Saw today that Jimmy Garapollo's salary for 2018 is $42.5M. His total salary is $137.5M with $90M guaranteed.
It drops to $18M for 2019 and 2020. Jumps back to $29.5M for 2021 and 2022. The $90M spread over 5 years is an annual $18M hit. That's a lot of Benjamins.

The 90 is over the first three years. If he plays out the deal with no reworks it'd be the full 137.5 on the cap over the 5 years. The cap hits by year are 37, 20, 26.6, 26.9, and 27.
