Seeing how the Atlantic is, I wouldn't be surprised if the C's runaway with the Atlantic when Rondo comes back. Sad thing is, at that point they may very well be the 3rd best team in the East sans big 3.

Giving Olynyk and our other new players some post-season experience will more than make up for not getting a top whatever pick.

We've got players with their best years still ahead of them, not behind them and that's more valuable than players who think they already know all they need to as top picks are prone to do.

The Nets deal is looking incredibly good these days with all those picks and the Nets even with a mediocre 2013/14 being a lottery team in the years after.

I wonder if Danny trades them or holds them. They are going up in value fast.

Do Boston Celtics Want to Rebuild Through NBA Draft or Trades? | Bleacher Report

Nice article on Danny's rebuild. They could trade for a star today, or they could take a more patient view. Interesting debate for the year ahead. There will be options. I dont think anyone barring Lebron is out of the possibility. I forgot about the $10M trade exemption. This is going to get juicy as those Nets picks become more valuable now.

In rebuilding mode as we are keeping the picks makes more sense than trading them.

If someone else offers us a better package than is likely I might take it but I wouldn't shop the picks.

So the Celtics will be doing very much same as teams with similar options....some will have luxury of signing more FA's even willing to take a tax hit. It does help your chances of a higher pick with every Nets debacle.

Bam, there are 5 teams who are really well positioned for the next wave of talent. Boston/Orlando/Utah/Cleveland, Pheonix and Denver. I might argue that Boston Orlando and Phoenix have the best assets of the bunch.
http://basketball.******.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

These 5 teams could make a serious run for an existing young star like Love..............could, and have him rostered next year. These teams also could move into the top 3 this year using some of those assets. Phoenix, like Houston, has been making great deals lately. There has been some great deals had and some good GM's out there.

the proverbial word here is "could". As you well know, any number of possibilities exist including trades, injuries to key players, FA's, and bonehead ownerships that can screw things up. I won't add Stern here 'cause he'll be gone so not to repeat what he did for the Lakers' trade of CP3.

Love will either get signed by Minnesota or they will trade him for assets. All these teams almost have too many picks ahead, so I expect alot of trade activity at deadline or during draft day.

Thats how the NBA rolls Bam.

I want Andrew Wiggins. Period. Word.

So do I, but were 4th in the East right now and leading the Atlantic. The East is so pathetic I don't think Wiggins or a top 3 pick is even possible. If Rondo comes back in a month or less we could be a decent seed in the extremely weak East. After the Heat and Pacers there's really no one. You thought the New York teams would be good, but they aren't looking like contenders.

The deal looks great. I gotta give that one to Danny.

I think Danny really enjoys the process of rebuilding more than reloading.

Recent bad moves: Lee, Terry signings, Melo draft

Recent good moves: Bass trade, Sullinger draft, Crawford trade, Clippers deal, Nets Trade, Green Deal

TBD: Kelly O draft, Hiring of Stevens

How many other Celtics fans are ticked off about the Red Sox not just losing Ellsbury but losing him to the SINSTRIPES?

 is a polite way of expressing my feelings about it.

Not ticked off at all. Strange decision to offer so much to a guy who hits 10/50 and relies on legs as a difference maker. a 4 year deal at $80 would have made sense for them...........but even then, they need pitching.

Cashman is another GM who overreacts

He's a trader in my book. Just like Damon.

I knew he was leaving, but to join the Yankees? Not cool

He has made some good moves, but I am a little worried about drafting to rebuild with him. Didn't go well last time, but will see. I expect Danny to trade some of the picks for proven player(s), over just trying to draft. The Sullinger pick is looking really good. I'm really high on Sullinger.
