Yes, I definitely like the first one better. I don't mind the "Capitals" logo either, though. I know it's not much of a logo, but it or something similar has been around since the team began, so I guess I'm just used to it.

Since you guys are talking about Caps jerseys, I'll throw my two cents in and say that I like the new "Capitals" jersey better than any other in franchise history. I prefer the home red as opposed to the white, but definitely like the latest over all others.

My Winter Classic hasn't arrived yet so the jury's still out on that...

I'm curious, who'd ya get? I'm going to get someone, but I'm not sure yet. Maybe Carlson because I allready have an 8 and 19. I like the Winter classic beter than the original white "Capitals" from pics, but we shall see when I get it

I'm not sure what was said during the intermission, but I like the way they're playing with urgency and acting like they want the puck more so far this period.
Ovechkin is due to bury one...

When I see Alzner and Carlson as the defensive pairing during an important penalty kill, it gives me a quiet confidence that our D is not as weak as some presume...

Hey guys, sorry to miss the thread tonight, but I was at the game. Caps had only lost one game at home this year, and I was in attendance, so I'm glad they didn't lose, or I'd be 1-2 at games and have to stay away for the good of the team. ;)

If I get one hockey Xmas wish, it's that Alex Semin can play in the playoffs like he has so far this season - offensively and defensively. Besides the occasional dumb penalty, he's improved on both sides of the puck, has helped the PK, and is being more physical. Nice to see.

As to the game itself, I think this was an important win for us. We stumbled a little out of the gate and Carolina, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay are all playing much better this season. If Tampa eeks out a win on our ice, it might send a message to some of those teams this thing is up for grabs. I think tonight we said "it's f#$#ing ours."

I know the chances are SLIM & NONE but I want Semin in an Isles uni next year. If he wants 8 million Chuck better give it to him. It's not like they don't have the cap space.

He has a ton of skill but... He tends to be lazy and thus takes stupid penalties far too often. He also has a knack for being injured. I think it's a blessing for the Caps that he's in a contract year. Maybe they'll get more of an effort on a more consistent basis. I also think that if he doesn't re-sign with Washington, he will go to the KHL.

I agree with everything CR said, but keep in mind he was in a contract year last year as well. I think his scoring will remain streaky, but he's definitely improved on the defensive side of the puck (if he could only stop taking stupid stick penalties).

But I'd say his going to a team like the Isles is not fetched. He probably could command a $7/million per year (maybe higher) type contract if he keeps playing this way and the Caps can't invest that kind of money in him with the dollars we have in OV and Backstrom plus guys like Carlson and Green being up for new contracts in a few years and a number of 2nd and 3rd line forwards next year.

That said, he's pretty comfortable with OV, who is his bud on and off the ice and I think gives him a comfort zone. So I could see him taking a homer discount to stay in DC.
