Keeping in mind there's a new CBA coming (hopefully), upper limit of salary cap for next season (technically speaking) is $70.3M.

Remember when we came of the last lockout with a $39 million cap?!?

At least the salaries are in dollars, not Euros.

By the way, that would make the cap floor (technically) $54.3 million...

54.3 million?? Well I guess Brock Nelson is a lock to make the team with his bonus clauses that he'll never reach. I'm sure Chuck will continue to find ways to reach the cap floor without having to actually spend the money.:L

I thought they were talking about reducing players' share of the revenue pie, which would cut back the cap a bit?

from Friedman's 30 thoughts today:

2. With the upper limit of the salary cap at $70.3 million US (as reported by Bob McKenzie and pending a new CBA), there is something else to consider. The NHLPA has the right to "inflate" that total by five per cent and, to this point, has always done so. That means the cap number for the summer could actually be $73.815 million

you realize if that is his modus operandi, that Grabner and Okposo may soon be on the trading block, as their salaries in later years of the deals will exceed their cap hits.

Can't go wrong with Lt. Commander Montgomery Scott...

did you know James Doohan was a genuine war hero? Juno Beach, on D-Day.
Surprised me when I heard about it.

At the beginning of the Second World War, Doohan joined the Royal Canadian Artillery. He was commissioned a lieutenant in the 13th Field Artillery Regiment of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division. Doohan went to England in 1940 for training. His first combat was the invasion of Normandy at Juno Beach on D-Day. Shooting two snipers, Doohan led his men to higher ground through a field of anti-tank mines, where they took defensive positions for the night. Crossing between command posts at 11:30 that night, Doohan was hit by six rounds fired from a Bren gun by a nervous Canadian sentry: four in his leg, one in the chest, and one through his right middle finger. The bullet to his chest was stopped by a silver cigarette case. His right middle finger had to be amputated, something he would conceal during his career as an actor

Which is the only way the Jackets are going to be able to afford Jenner, Murray and Johansen's next contracts.

But then again, if the cap floor goes up, that makes Clarkson and Boll's ridiculous deals look better for a team trying to make the floor.

I hope.

Funny how 3 years ago they were talking about a $73 mil cap and the league is still a couple mil beneath that even with the PA inflation add-on.
