With 36 days remaining until the start on the 2013 NFL draft I'm proposing a mock draft conducted by the board. The rules are simple. We will dedicate one day per team where the selection of a player will be determined by a vote. The player with the most votes will be selected by that team. As a prospect is selected his name will be removed from the list of available players. The player rankings are from Scout's Inc./ESPN Top 50.

Personally, I think KC is going to trade that pick to either Jacksonville or Philadelphia who are interested in trading up to #1 to grab Geno Smith, which will leave KC selecting OT Eric Fisher, IMO. Therefore, since I cannot account for trades in this mock, my vote is going to be for Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan.

They'll trade, or at least try, but for the purposes of this exercise: Luke Joeckel.

PS ESPN rankings are a joke. Arthur Brown will likely be a top 15 pick. He's not even in their top 50. Ogltree is also missing too. Idiotic.

Over the past 10 yrs Scout's Inc rankings have been the most accurate as to where a player is ranked and where they are drafted. You don't have to believe me, if you have an Insider account you can go back and check for yourself. Plus Alec Ogletree is ranked 12th overall and I seriously doubt an undersized LB who doesn't rush the passer is going in the top 15. I just don't see it happening.

Ps. with no elite QB prospects in this draft KC is going to be stuck with Luke Joeckel.

They Re completely wrong on Brown. That said, use whatever rankings you want. I'm praying the Bengals take Brown at 21. I'll use my rankings.

Really? They're wrong? What rankings are you looking at? Like I said before, undersized, non-pass rushing LB'ers tend to fall in the Draft.

excerpt~
It is seemingly an annual rite of passage. Every year there is an ultra-productive linebacker who, if only an inch or two taller, would warrant top 15 consideration. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the fortunate recipient a year ago when they landed former Nebraska star Lavonte David in the second round. He went on to record 139 tackles as a rookie, tied for the eighth best in the NFL.

As I said, I'm using my rankings. I'd take him at 21 and laugh while I did it.

Those rankings are a bit delusional. Brown and Mingo aren't playing the same position. Mingo is a pass rushing 3-4 OLB. Same for Jordan. Probably same for Jones.

Cyprien is missing from that list too.

This mock is about the 1st Round, the reason I went to 50 is just in case a team throws a curve ball, like Seattle did last season, when they selected Bruce Irvin who was ranked 56th overall. I'm not saying it won't happen but it's HIGHLY unlikely these guys go in the 1st Round.

Ranked 53rd- Johnthan Banks CB 6'2" 185 Mississippi State
Ranked 65th- Arthur Brown OLB 6'0⅜" 241 Kansas State
Ranked 67th- John Cyprien* S 6'0¼" 217 Florida International

when the QBs start getting hyped, aren't you all gonna feel silly?

Seriously. There will be at least 3 QB's drafted in the first.

Geno Smith won't make it past pick #2. Barkley won't make it past #10.

Geno Smith won't make it past pick #2. Barkley won't make it past #10.

Plus, with multiple teams interested in Geno Smith, and KC vocally interested in trading their #1 pick, it becomes a distinct possibility that Smith still could go #1. Plus, I thought I read somewhere where Joeckel's stock had fallin maybe to where he was on the bubble of being the best OT with another guy or two. I can't remember where I read that or I would link for others to see as well.

We all know my opinion on Cyprien. So I will not get into that.

I think Brown is a fringe 1st rounder, but more a solid 2nd round pick at any time in the second. Brown could go as high as the Bengals at 21, but I would doubt we drafted him at 21 knowing he has a good possibility of being there with our 1st pick in the second round.
