Pelini's previous deal, signed in December of 2012, carried through the 2017 season. It had been wondered, however, if the coach would receive a one-year extension to cover five years, as has been granted Pelini in recent years prior to athletic director Shawn Eichorst's arrival.

If the newly signed contract carries the same salary details as the old one, Pelini will make a base salary of $3.075 million this year.

Pelini had said last Thursday that his yearly annual evaluation "is in the works." The Journal Star has frequently submitted requests to the athletic department for any updates on contract information over the past month.

A request to talk to Eichorst about Pelini's contract has also been submitted. Eichorst is currently in Indianapolis at the Big Ten's women's basketball tournament.

Husker assistant coaches already received one-year extensions at the beginning of February, locking them in through Jan. 31, 2016.

So a guy that loses 4 games a year, every year without fail, is guaranteed a 5 year contract.
I guess I'm missing something.
Are you guys happy with that?

It was a one year extension. He was guaranteed 3 more years previously and fuck no we aren't happy.

Great news. Another big, public "Fuck you" to all the people who think they are experts when it comes to running a major college program.

Really you dont think that Bo has higher standards as far as coaching and winning goes? You dont think Bo sees Miles stealing the lime light in 3 years. I mean when the Nebraska basketball is the talk of the town Bos ears are burning believe me. Now I know some might think why would he give a shit he is getting paid and a extention but contracts can be burned we have all seen it. Bo knows that he and his staff need a big year. Bo still has to win over the fan base every single day. After all its football in Nebraska.

My hopes for the season JP better fucking step up the defense and fucking stragle offenses. And Beck needs to figure out how to put more points on the scoreboard he has to utilize the talent that he has riht now. IMO he has wasted talents like Turner and Bell. Kyler reed was anouther waste of talent.

Basically it is everyone elses fault but Bos

I hope the 9-4 excuses train is gonna come to a halt and by 2015 or so we can be a legit top 15 team... I'm ready for neb football to make the jump and stop with the excuses for 9-4 seasons

I will be honest as much a I like Bo 9-4 is nothing to hang yer hat on. But I do believe that he has the team and program headed in he right direction. I do wonder what the verdict would be had he won the big 12 title, I mean to lose a game because the refs put more time on the clock is a damn shame to the sport. And then we should have beat texas in Lincoln I dont know how many dropped passes we had that could have been TDs. I know Rex had one and so did Paul. But that is all in the past. I am really looking forwar to spring ball and who the starting QB is going forward. I know that there is a ton of hype around Johnny Stanton but I think if TA can get the picks under controle he will make a serious argument. Should be fun to watch how it all unfolds.

NO, if nothing else, the extension just eliminates all the whining he did alst fall. And avoids said bitching for at least another year. Just a prudent move by Eichorst.

Does anyone really think this is a big deal? This was not a vote of confidence or whatever. This was a mere formality. You never want a coach to have a contract with 4 years or less left. That way he can tell recruits that he is under contract through the time they will be there. Of course that doesn't guarantee that they will be there but it is all lip service. This contract extension is just a pr move not to be read into in a negative or positive way.

With that being said, it is clearly well deserved right? Especially the raise. HAHAHAHA!!!!!
