Can someone who still can do this go on DumDumVille in this thread and pwn King DumDum (see post 19):

ESPN.com: San Francisco Giants Message Board

Here's the link to post so NoSense can be pwned for the 3470th time:

Career Leaders &amp Records for Losses - Baseball-Reference.com

It took me literally 45 seconds to find the answer to that idiot's question.

News flash, you gotta be pretty good to have the longevity to lose 250 games. 9 out of the 10 ten losingest pitchers ever are now in the HOF.

I should let it go of course, but he bugs me so much and he's so damn stupid.

And calnow, to your comment about the Hall of Very Good, there's definitely a bunch of guys in there for longevity and raw stat buildups rather than pure dominance (Koufax being the other extreme). But it's the Hall of 'FAME'. The guys that pitched forever were certainly good enough to do so, and were plenty famous.

It's why I think Rose, Bonds, and so on should be in too.

Doesn't matter that much to me, it's not curing cancer, it's a private club doing whatever the heck they want to do.

It isnt going to cause me to lose any sleep, I just dont think that guys who did not perform at an elite level during their career belong. The fact that he only made 2 ASG in his career tells me that he was never an elite pitcher. He also maxed out at #3 in the CYA voting.

I do not believe Jamie Moyer is a HOF, so Bert Blyleven should not be either.

Just my opinion. You are allowed to disagree :)

Blyleven has more career CG than Schilling has Wins, and most consider Schilling to be a first ballot HOF.

The game has changed dramatically in the last 20 - 25 years, though. CGs do not exist anymore. They did in the 80s and earlier.

And I do not consider Schilling a first ballot..

I obviously have very high standards for the HOF...

I don't disagree one bit about Moyer not being an HOFer. I assume, cal, if they made you HOF King you'd kick out Niekro, Sutton, Molitor, and others?

I actually go back and forth on it. Some times I agree with you about only the elite of the elite getting in, other times I count longevity and good stats over a very long career as pretty elite.

As we both said, it's not a big deal either way.

I would also add Shoeless Joe. He got a lifetime bad, which has run out, so in my eyes, he is eligible now. I am also in favor of inducting Rose the day after his wake...

Agreed on Joe Jackson, he should be in.

Any others you'd kick out besides the 3 above? Eddie Murray? Tony Gwynn?

I would have to look into it. I tend to move forward :)

Blyleven is a HOF. Congrats and welcome :)

You're the Hall Of Fame. Think of above average ballplayers as moderately attractive women at a bar. Each year they are out of the league is another drink. At some point, you're gonna take one of those moderately attractive women home.

Add to the scenario the fact that some of those women have been tainted by steroids. That's like mouth herpes. One of these times at the bar, the herpes will be dormant, and you will take Mark McGwire and Rafael Palmerio home. In the mean time, the lady equivalent to Bert Blyleven, Jeff Bagwell (maybe) and Don Mattingly (maybe) slip into your bed. Of course, there is always the veterans committee, which is more like trolling for pussy at the local VFW Hall (No offense to Orlando Cepeda).

Cal, you must be one of those guys that still holds out for the Willie Mays of hotties at 1:45 am, or at the very least Kirby Puckett. News flash, bro. She went home with Cooperstown at 8 pm after a nice steak dinner. She never even stepped foot in the bar. :)
