Red Wings Will Not Bring Back Coach Jeff Blashill

The Detroit Red Wings have elected to not renew Jeff Blashill's contract for the 2022-23 NHL season.

They canned their goalie coach, Jeff Salajko as well. I hope he doesn't come back to Columbus. He ran a "hockey school" with the head coach of my son's high school team. It was all synthetic ice in an un-air conditioned warehouse and he expected the goalies to be in full gear for the sessions there. Fortunately, he got the job in Detroit and left when my son was in 8th grade so my son never had to deal with that crap. But I don't want o see him ruin the muscle memory of a new generation of goalies.

My son refused to go to any of the synthetic ice sessions, which is probably why he got cut from his high school team as a sophomore after going 12-2-1 and taking the team to 4th place in the state.
