Isn't Black Adam considered an Anti Hero?

Yes, mostly, but....it depends on who you ask, then he's either an antihero or a villain. The movie looks like they're going to position him as the former, though the comics usually paint him as the latter. There are even some who call him an anti villain (whatever that is).

It's okay.

Much better than the awful Thor 4: Love and Thunder a few months ago, but very predictable and by the numbers.

Black Adam keeps repeating throughout the movie that he's "not a hero," except he pretty much acts as one in this movie and is way, WAY toned down from his comics version, who is a hundred times more brutal and violent and villainous, frequently killing thousands without justification.

I liked the Justice Society. The boy Amon was annoying. The undead at the end were a laughable non-threat when they are getting easily beaten by ordinary people wielding improvised weapons.

The mid-credits scene is very cool, but doesn't say the greatest thing for the movie when the coolest moment in the entire movie is the mid-credits scene.

This movie was still produced under the previous leadership at DC. Maybe future movies will be better, but tbh, they allowed Marvel to own the market for a long time, and now Marvel has saturated it made a lot of us start feeling superhero burnout.

But well, Aquaman was also a not great, by the numbers movie and it did at the BO. The fact that it didn't have Wakanda Forever following it helped. .

It was fun and entertaining to see the Rock kill so many people. But it was also sloppy and felt rushed. Way too much slo-mo.

Just going by the DC stuff recently, it’s better than the 2016 suicide squad but not as good as the 2021 version. oh, not as good as Aquaman but it’s about on the same level as Shazam.

I wasn't really sold on him being an Anti Hero. Just because you killed bad guys to me doesn't make you an Anti Hero the fact he spent the second half of the movie teaming up with the justice society and helping single moms actually makes him a regular hero. When they bring back this character on screen if he isn't there to try and kill Shazaam or anyone else on the Justice League I would take him as a hero. The Rock is big on his brand I doubt he would play a character on screen that was overly bad.

From everything I have read, is Rock is basically going to be “taking over” the DCEU. So it doesn’t necessarily matter if his character becomes the gold standard.

James Gunn is great at what he does, but other than the Batman properties, DC Movies are dead.

Not really. Pattinson’s Batman was really well done and Black Adam is set up better than anything Marvel or Star Wars has set up. DC isn’t Avengers but nothing Disney has is Avengers.

That's what I said: other than Batman properties, DC gets no buzz. Wakanda Forever on its opening weekend already surpassed Black Adam's domestic total, while having a similar budget, despite Black Adam featuring one of the biggest stars.
