I hope he's more intelligent about it than that. Just because he was a great QB doesn't qualify him as an NFL executive. The skill set is vastly different for each of those jobs. I honestly can't believe he'll do that, I believe he's more intelligent than that.

Depends who you are talking about. John Lynch for example stepped right into GM work. He did spend some time shadowing John Elway unofficially before taking the job but otherwise jumped into the position. Martin Mayhew had positions all over the league and even worked for the general NFL office for a bit. Ryan Poles had a similar path to Mayhew. Guys like John Elway and Dan Marino jumped into the position with little to no experience so I would say quarterbacks seem to be the main ones that get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to FO work where others mostly have to work their way up.

I will agree there are guys that have done it, I don't see any that went from the booth to success as the GM other than Lynch. The last guy that went from career to booth to GM was a disaster, Millen. When it's all said and done, we'll see what happens, at this point he's not anything other than minority share holder, so until he is in the position and we see the results we can talk about it until we're blue in the face. It's just my opinion that it would be a mistake on his part to believe he could be the lead without some experience.
