So I guess we are going to become a pass 1st offense, as BJGE has never really established himself as a fulltime starter. Unless, he is the backup and we are drafting our starter. Good hands, good situational back it looks like based on stats and reports, but not a great full time starter. Oh well, maybe with a better offensive line we will be okay. If we can actually improve it.

How far up do you think we have to go in the draft to nab DeCastro?

I am thinking DeCastro and Floyd have to be our targets right now, with CB/RB being our second round pick.

Decastro is going to go between 12 and 17 IMO. Floyd will be gone before we pick too.

This is a major upgrade over Benson just because he doesn't fumble -- at all......he's also better suited as a member of a committee, as Benson wants 25 carries per game and puts it on the ground.......oh yeah, he's also not a criminal......he's no great shakes, but I'm ok with him.....maybe we can get I Pead in the third round or so to share the load, and use our higher picks to fix other issues.....

He didn't fumble in NE. He WILL fumble here.

Not a big fan of the signing. I don't see him as an every down back, nor do I think he's all that good.

Yeah he'll fumble eventually, but no way will he become a fumbler, like Benson.....they want to fill the rb position by committee, and he's more suited to that than Benson was.....he's not all that good, but neither was Benson.......he's a definite upgrade.....

Agreed. I don't think he's an every down back or that good. And with Scott, this pretty much assures we're not going to draft a RB before the 5th round (if at all)

I don't mind him. Patriots fans seem to like him, and aren't happy he left. If they're satisfied with him, he can't be all that bad. I don't think he's an everydown guy, though. There are very few everydown backs in the league anymore. We still need a decent #2.

Still, at least were signing somebody.

Gruden has said several time he wants a multi-back set so BJGE's inability to be an every down back isn't an issue.

that's what I'm thinking. I guess Leonard can fill that roll, but it would be nice to have a starter that can fill it.

This is why Bush would have been the much better fit. When you have backs that are only good at one thing, it makes your offense that much easier to read. Bush would have been a multi-threat option.

One thing to keep in mind about the pats offense..their line is geared to protect brady, not open up holes. While it would figure the running game would get easier runs because of Brady, the line has to step up when called to do so. Also, BJGE received a ton of carries inside the 10 (or maybe just seems that way), which would skew his YPC.

While what you say is true that their line is geared to protect Brady, that still doesn't mean their line doesn't run block as well as ours does. So while your perception is accurate, it doesn't mean BJGE's play will necessarily improve here.
