Jesus this was a bad night for me

Fucking Butler. Sweeps Nova and beats Zona, but has losses to Grown(at home) and Indiana State and St Johns. Go figure.
Seen two brackets today. One on ESPN and the other on CBS. Marquette is in the last 4 in both
Yeah we'd be in right now
But we ain't gonna win another game I don't think
And 1-2 probably has us out too
Team passes the eye test.
Only got ourselves to blame for being on the bubble. Have 2 of those back and we are talking seed.
Side note, X is in shambles. Don't care about their RPI if we don't make it they can't make it
Marquette and Wake are extremely similar. Very good (even great) offensively, with suspect defenses. Wake also has nothing but themselves to blame for being on he bubble. Think Marquette is safer than Wake at this point, but still very similar teams.
Yup. I mean I guess that's why we're bubble teams lol. Look great at times but blow chances.
On one hand I wish we had a couple of the blown games back, because not only would we be a lock but also potentially playing for a 6/7 seed.
On the other hand while bubble life is dangerous. I would LOVE avoiding Dayton and getting a 11 seed. No 6 seed want to face 11 seeds like MU and Wake
If Marquette does get an 11 seed, that brings up the potential Gophers/Marquette first round game...which I would like to avoid, not only because Marquette would obviously be dangerous, but for your health. lol.
Haha it would kill me.
I also think the gophers are a great draw for us in the fact that they don't really exploit a lot of Marquette weaknesses. So I'd like to stay away from it.
Lunardi has a match up with st Mary's. Yes please. Let the big fucker get his and stop the rest
Yeah, I'd pick Marquette to beat St. Mary's in a heart beat.
What are your thoughts on the advanced ranking systems in terms if the committee will use hem much? I know RPI is starting to slowly be moved out and it's the one black eye for Marquette.
We rate out so highly in KenPom, Saragin, BPI(smh) etc..
Are they planning to look at these things at all?
I think based on how they seeded the top 16 a month back they are leaning towards how many quality wins do you have. Which is where RPI can come into play. But Marquette has 7 top 50 wins(using the RPI) which is tied for like 10th most in the country, plus a sweep of X, which may or may not come into play. Some years its meant something other years it hasn't.
I just don't see them using the advanced metrics all that much. The only thing I can see them using it for would be for a team like Wichita State. They are top 15 in KenPom but only have one top 50 win. The KP # suggests they should be a top 4 seed but their resume doesn't. My guess is kind of like last year they get in, but will probably be on the 10/11 line and not the 4/5 line.
Back when they did the reveal there was only 1 team that was in the top 16 RPI that wasn't a top 4 seed and I wanna say I think it was Cincy. The advanced metrics were practically ignored because both Oregon and Zona at the time were in the upper teens and low 20's but were on the 2/3 line respectively. Also teams like UVA and WVU were seeded much closer to where they were in the RPI than the advanced metrics. Same with FSU.
