I love this trade, we get rid of buff who only shows up in the playoffs, dump sopels salary, and get picks and a prospect in return. I dont know anything about morin though. This is more than I could have imagined for getting rid of sopes, buff, and eager.

Great trade for you guys Q. You guys shed salary and also get pack two valuable picks. Now you just have to get rid of Ladd and Versteeg and you guys should be good to go.

I highly doubt you guys will be able to get rid of Huet or Campbell.

Aliu and Sopel will be good for Atlanta. Not sure what Buff will do for them though.

I still can't believe Ben Eager was a first round draft pick.

And say what you want about Atlanta, but they have a good young core of players right now to build around right now. Though the cynic in me wonders how they'll blow it.

You know what they say, puck, clothes make the man. And then I take a second look at the Thrashers uniforms...yeesh.

Byfuglien, Sopel, Eager to Atlanta for first round pick (New Jersey's), 2nd round pick (new jersey's), Reasoner and Jeremy Morin.

Not a bad deal considering those picks of New Jersey's aren't particularly great, but Atlanta is going to regret giving up Morin IMO.

ya thats a solid deal for the hawks.. get rid of sopel (who wasn't liked in the first place), eager who is nearly useless except when he decides to rip the only good shot of his career against the flyers :(.. and buff isn't that good of a player, he had 1 good month..

I am surprised about the reaction to Buff by Chicago fans.

After all, he was an important part of winning the Cup. Perhaps that would of carried over to next season?

I don't think its a bad move for Atlanta. In fact I think its a pretty good move. They get better right away and thats what they wanted to do. This move helps them for this year, something the picks wouldn't have. They need to improve this season.

I wouldn't have liked it if they got rid of their own first round pick, but since its NJ's I think its fine.

I do qualify my opinion by stating I know nothing about Morin or Aliu.

At least big Buff is out of the Central Division. From a Blues perspective, I've been ranting on this one for awhile, but with Colby Armstrong being an UFA ... I think he's someone the Blues need to take a flyer on. He would be great on our 3rd line and I think his character and physicality would fit right in with the current roster. Especially now with Buff being on the Thrashers, I'm not sure what money they will be willing to throw around for the likes of Armstrong considering that after next season Buff will be due a huge pay upgrade...and the Thrashers just ate Sopel's contract.
