The Big 12 is set to announce their schedule tomorrow as the Commissioners are holding a meeting.
I'm thinking they're going to do the plus one model which seems to be what everyone else is doing so will be playing 10 games, 9 conference games and a plus one.
The smart move would be to ask one of the Independent Schools to be our plus-one. Notre Dame is out because they're going with the ACC and BYU has publicly stated they're not interested in playing a 10 game Big 12 schedule.
This leaves Army, who is already on OU schedule this year, UMass and New Mexico state.
Based on proximity I would say New Mexico State makes the smartest sense to play a big 12 schedule. they're the closest school to most of the Big 12 schools and also they've already had four of their games canceled because they were playing other conferences. I would like us to ask Army to be your plus-one but I think that the logistics do not make sense for them to travel through the Big 12 also UMass the logistics don't make sense so I say New Mexico state will be invited to compete with the BIG XII for this year, share in revenue and be eligible for the BIG XII title.
That's what I'm thinking.
Thoughts? Opinions? It's okay if you think I'm smoking crack.
