Seems Betts didn't pass his physical with Montreal and is back with the Flyers.

Sooo... Does this make the Flyers drop someone else off the current roster to accommodate him coming back or do they put Betts on IR??

Creates a cap and contract problem. something has to be done if Couturier is going to stay.

They put Lappy on LTIR again, which means we have 500k in cap space, so that's alright, if not exactly where we want to be.

The real issue is that it puts us back at 50 contracts, but Couturier's contract doesn't count until a few more games in.

Basically we have to ditch a contract somehow or send Cooties to the minors.

I don't think any team will take him since he's injured. I read that they might put him on LTIR like they did with Lappy.

I think under the CBA, Betts may be eligible to be waived to go to the minors. It's a sticky situation and not sure if Homer can pull this off. Another option is to waive Shitty. I'm all for that.

Does LTIR still count towards the 50 contract limit? If so then we still have a problem if we decide to keep Couturier for the season. someone still needs to go,:llama:

i really dont get why the flyers are having such an issue with the 50 contract limit problem..if they really need to shed a contract there has to be some way they can trade a phantom. maybe a 2 for 1 trade or a 3 for 2 trade? im sure someone in the league wouldnt mind getting a guy like ben holmstrom or mike testwuide, and while its great to have those guys in the system i really dont see how that will affect the long term success of the team, especially given the youth we have.

Does anyone know just how long Homer has until he has to make a move/trade/decision to be compliant?

I believe they have 30 days to make a decision on Betts and then they would have to waive him again. The problem comes in regard to Couturier. Flyers are at 50 contracts. Couturier does not count unless he stays for an 11th game. They need the space to keep him up. I think he looks like he should stay but it is only 2 games so far. Bottom line is that someone has to go.
