Boston/Montreal is a big one. Wings and Avs always was a delight to watch but seems to have simmered down. Pens and Philly has some good hatred.

I fucking hate Anaheim.

Everybody does.
Try living in south Orange county where there are lots of Ducks "fans" who can't tell you what place their team is in ever and still think JSG is the goalie but whenever you try and talk to them about hockey all you get is Ducks won the cup before your Kings did.
At least my wife knows the team and the players and what offsides is
She knows why Mcsorely was traded to LA and the shootout is an abomination. But the Ducks have 136774 fans on Facebook but their are always more away team fans at their games

whew quite a rant.

Oh the the best rivalry in sports is USC Notre Dame. One of the oldest and both schools love and hate each other even when one team is having a bad year it is still the most important game on the schedule.

Agreed, gets completely overlooked when talking about great sports rivalries (The Bush Push pisses me off to this day). I love that in this day and age of college football where everyone is afraid to lose 1 game because it will ruin their National title shot, that 2 teams that don't need to play one another still do every year. Again, hate USC, but I respect them to no end.

Agreed, College football rivalries are the best in sports in my opinion. But I'm going to cut this off before we go way off course with this thread. My top 3 NHL rivalries right now:

MTL/Boston: Although I thought there would be way more blood in their series this year after everything during the regular season.

Philly/Pitt: In state rivalry, tons of young talent on both teams, Richards and Crosby have disliked each other for years, and I think both of these cities have a pre-existing beef with one another.

Vancouver/Chicago: Curveball here, some of the characters have changed, but I still get the feeling that these 2 teams really dislike one another. Any time these 2 play you just get that vibe that it really is personal.

Boston/Montreal is the best IMO
Flyers/Pens of course
In the 90's nothing got better than Wings/Avs, but thats gone downhill along with the Avs
Flyers/Rangers
Leafs/Habs
Hawks/Wings
Flames/Oilers
Hawks/Canucks

Caps/Pens is no rivalry, sorry guys

If the NHL didn't try to force the Pens/Caps down peoples throats, then maybe people would see it differently. They don't like each other, but that isn't enough for it to be a rivalry

I think the Pens/Caps have some decent footing as a rivalry, based on the past. Old division rivals, played in many heated playoff series, normally have pretty intense regular season games. But yes, because it's sort of (okay, it's REALLY) forced on the public, it seems more contrived than it really is. I hate Philly more (sorry Caps fans, nothing personal...I like to spread the hate).

Kocur, Grimson, Probert... the 80's and 90's were a hell of a time for that rivalry. Hell Chris Chelios once baited Steve Yzerman into dropping the mitts.

I freaking LOVE to hate the Hawks.

I and I hate the Wings as well, though theyve been making it hard cause the team does not really have any douches on it, Bertuzzi excluded.

Don't worry, I hate philly more too. Dont get me wrong, I do hate the Pens too and I am most likely in the minority as far as Caps fans go, but I do hate philly more.

Amongst Leaf and Hab fans, Toronto/Montreal is still a huge rivalry, even when one team is good and the other sucks. A playoff series would go a long way, too.

Pens Caps games are fun as hell to watch (Well I kind of prefer them in Washington, IDK why) but is is forced as already stated.
