Nothing beats the rivalries in English Football.

I think Inter vs. AC trumps them.

The only thing in England that comes close, IMO, is the Manchester Derby.

I guess if we're mentioning hockey rivalries, not just NHL, we've got to dig into college hockey a little bit. Minnesota and North Dakota have a huge rivalry due to the proximity of the campuses and the strength of the programs. The Gophers and Sioux always ice quality teams. Michigan and Michigan State is an awesome hockey rivalry as well, anyone who ever has the chance to check out a game at Yost needs to jump on it. It's like nothing else. Obviously Boston has some great college rivalries with the Beanpot tournament as well.

If we talk football (soccer on your continent ), don't forget to mention Lazio vs. Roma and Juventus vs. Inter. They loathe eachother.

I went to Turin to see Juventus - Milan in 2006. And before the game, outside Delle Alpi (the arena), we walked, unknowingly, between two hooligan gangs just waiting to get started. Luckily we escaped without any problems
