Yeah, when you add Tebow's 2,947 rushing yards and 57 rushing TDs, there is really no comparison. Also, did you know that Tebow broke Herschel Walker's SEC record for rushing TDs?

Tebow's college #'s are even more impressive when you take into consideration he wasn't even the starting QB for the Gators his Fr. year.

QB's in that system, will always have better rushing stats.

But as QB, I would rather run a pro-style offense because it better prepares me for the NFL.

With Cam Newton Auburn was 14 - 0.
Next year without 3 - 9 with no SEC wins.

I'm still amazed at what he did.

He was sensational, so huge in the clutch. He put that team on his back and pretty much single-handily won many of those games for Auburn. Every time they absolutely had to have a big play he delivered. It was a magical season.

Would have been interesting to see him (assuming he had his head on strait and not stealing laptops ect.) playing under Gus for 3-4 years. We may have seen mass suicides in the SEC

That's part of why it's difficult to rank college qb's. There are so many different offenses that teams run. If Tebow is on a team that runs more of a pro-style offense, he doesn't have anywhere near the rushing stats. Although, I doubt Leinart would have anything close to Tebow's if he were in an offense like Florida ran. Running was just not what anyone would want to see Leinart do.

Not sure what Tebow's passing numbers would look like if defenses didn't have the threat of him running.

That is what makes CFB tough. Their is such a bias to running QBs. Tebow was a fullback playing QB and he is a must in the top 10. Vince was an athlete playing QB. Conventional QB play is undervalued, because a guy like Cam or Vince can control the game, unlike anything a pocket passer can. CFB defenses just don't have the players to shut down guts like that

Bro......

Auburn went 8-5 in 2011. They went 3-9 in 2012. Bad when a Bammer knows your team better than you do.
I'm getting old and 2012 did psychological damage so don't judge me too harshly.

 @OP. Says Tim Tebow should rank high, but Leinart doesn't belong anywhere on the list.

Ok, not agreeing with OP. Just want to look at comparison again.

Career stats:

Tebow: Pass att. 985, Pass comp. 665, Pct. 67.1
Leinart: Pass att. 1,245, Pass comp. 807, Pct. 64.8

Tebow: Pass yds. 9,286, Yards per attempt 9.427
Leinart: Pass yds. 10,693, Yards per attempt 8.589

Tebow: TD's 88, Td's per 100 attempt 8.932
Leinart: TD's 99, Td's per 100 attempt 7.952

Tebow: Int. 15, Int's per 100 attempts 1.676
Leinart: Int.23, Int's per 100 attempts 1.847

Tebow: Qb rating 170.8
Leinart: Qb rating 159.5

Tebow: Rushing att 692, Rushing Yards 2947, Yds per att 4.259
Leinart: Rushing att 132, rushing yds -70, Yds per att -0.530

Tebow: Rushing Td's 57, Td's per 100 att 8.237
Leinart: Rushing Td's 9, Td's per 100 att 6.818

BTW, Tebow has 2 NC's. He played in all 14 games in 2006 including the NC where he threw for a TD and rushed for a TD.

Fuck it. With some of these names I see being mentioned I'm going all out homer and say Todd Blackledge.

Please shut up about NC's. John Shaffer has 1 and played for another. He doesn't belong in the top 500.

Its about winning. look at Mariota. I'm sure he out rushed every single QB ohio State had combined this past season but the QB play when it counted was better with Cardel so i couldn't care less that Mariota ran for a lot of yards. Tebow had great rushing stats you can't use that as negative ( for matt) when comparing him with Leinart. It wasn't part of Matts game.I think one was highly skilled pro style and the other just did anything he could to win. Both were amazing. They were both great college QBs in their own way. We all know Tebows passing was High schoolish but it was effective because he could run. I think you can make a list but hard to rank one ahead of the other and use the stats.

Comparing Tebows passing stats with other QBs doesn't mean a lot . He had a better passing % than Montana , Brady, John Elway as well. Just to give you something to ponder. But thats like comparing De Andre Jordan of the Clippers with Steph Curry of the Warriors. De Andre has a higher shooting percentage than Curry but you couldn't find one NBA knowledgeable person to say De Andre is a better shooter or even basketball player. It's about scoring the points and De Andre is good at doing it his way (put backs , alley oops) but don't try and sell me that de Andre is a better shooter because his % is higher than Currys. So again not trying to take away anything from tebow the winner just don't post passing numbers and try and sell me that Tebow was anywhere close to the passer Lienart was.
