Well, since the object of football is to win the games, let's start with the QB who won the most games.

Kellen Moore at 50-3 is at the top. No other non power 5 team in the BCS era came close to matching Boise State's success, largely in credit to Moore. Name another lower end program that was in the top ten every year he played.

His stats are gaudy: three time Heisman top ten, nearly 15,000 yards passing, 70% career completion %, 169.0 career QB rating, 148 TDs with only 28 interceptions, heck, he even punted 5 times, placing everyone inside the 20 for a 37 yd. per kick average. He was like having an offensive coordinator on the field, his ability to read college defenses and place the ball perfectly was unmatched. He was the unquestioned leader of the team, but he always gave credit to others.

Sure, there were many who played for "bigger" programs and had a more awesome physical presence. But if you want a player who exemplified the college game, you can't do better.

Agree. And along similar lines, I offer Colt McCoy.

Set 54 UT and NCAA records. Threw for over 13,000 yards, 132 TDs (20 rushing).

Was team MVP alone or shared, all fours years he played.

Beat Ohio State with last minutes drive in Fiesta Bowl. Played for a NC.

70.3 Career completion percentage.

He didnt win it all, but he was a damn good CFB quarterback and leader.

Here is a list of quarterbacks who won two national championships. Pick the GOAT from that list. One season wonders aren't on the list.

Steve Davis -- Oklahoma
Jerry Tagge -- Nebraska
Tommie Frazier -- Nebraska
Matt Leinart -- Southern Cal
A.J. McCarron -- Alabama

I would pick one of those two. Probably Frazier.

I have said several times that James Street was the best quarterback Texas ever had and all I get (even from most of the Horns fans) is static about how VY had to be better. Street was twice the athlete Young was. That guy was absolute magic throwing a football or a baseball. His kids were great baseball players too. He died a little over a year ago. RIP, James.

You wont get an argument from me.

James Street was special. When I was a real little kid, I was always James Street playing in the yard.

I think with VY, it's several things: More recent, and probably more people you ask, were not around when Street played. I watched that Tex/Ark 'game of the century' sitting two feet from a little BW TV, every minute of it. Of course, I was only about three feet tall at the time, but still, that's irrelevant.

Funny you mention McCoy in response to a Kellen Moore post because I'm pretty positive that's who had the all-time wins record before Moore broke it.

Always liked Colt. I thought he played awfully admirably under some tough circumstances last season. Love the kid's moxie and his attitude. I'd like to see him get more opportunities. I'm a fan.
