Stop.

He's not replacing Dalton. He's not. It has nothign to do with him being injured...the team loves Dalton, and he's taken them to the playoffs 4 straight years. I don't mean to crush dreams, but the reality is...Dalton is our QB. Period end of story.

I 'mostly' agree..... I think there is one small chance we see him go. That's if Marvin coaches out his contract next season and we completely implode. If we go 4-12 and Dalton has a shaky year, I can see Marvin walking away and a new coach stepping into the picture. That new coach might want a new quarterback and cutting Dalton at that point would not be very expensive.

I agree with that. If the team tanks, and Dalton struggles, he can be cut, and could be...even if Marvin stays, they'll have to realize that after 5 years, he's just not getting it done.

However, the business side of the Bengals will play large. Going into next year, Dalton is the QB, and he won't be pressured by anyone, including AJ. If he takes them to a decent record (say, 9-10 wins) and/or makes another playoff game...you can go ahead and pen him into the QB slot for the rest of that contract.

Without winning in the playoffs, the Bengals will point to making the playoffs and then how cheap his contract is compared to other playoff QB's. Ridiculous or not, until proven otherwise, it's the Bengal way.

Marvin is starting to age quickly. This job is getting to him, he's a decent person caught between a rock and a hard place.

he needs to get out of here for his own health.

It's interesting to consider that the Dalton/Green and Marvin eras could end after next season. If the team completely implodes and the Bengals fail to sign Green to a long-term deal, they could just start over. The deals for our two offensive tackles will also be up and some of our old defenders could be cut loose. Back to the drawing board?

AJ is a nice guy and seems to have a loyalty gene, but his agent might just be the ruthless type to talk him into getting the fuck out of Cincinnati.

his rising price tag may be his ticket out of here he receives 7 million more in ballooning salary next season and is a ufa in 2016:
as much as he is liked, we've all seen players graduate out of here in similar fashion

Hard to know what to do with Green. If you keep Dalton as your quarterback, he's not going to improve much beyond what he has already shown. Dalton just doesn't have the physical skills.

On the other hand, with AJ in the lineup we can win a lot of games -- Even with a crappy quarterback.

With a deep ball QB, I have to believe Green would lead the league in rec yards.

It's really a mismatch to have Dalton and Green on the same team. We should have YAC players that can take these short dumps and timing routes for extra yards. But, he's still the best receiver on the team, so what are you gonna do?

I agree. But what can ya do ya know? We are stuck with the Ginger. We'll never know how great Green could be because A) he's been Bunglelized B) he's mental checked out from the Bengals C) Andy Dalton is the QB.

It would probably be in the best interests of all parties to move on from both. In an ideal world we would keep AJ and get rid of Dalton. But since that won't happen..
