This is how I see Andy Dalton fans:

Mort.jpg

There are no Andy Dalton fans. Crash was the last one left, and the Cleveland debacle did him in. What's left is to discuss his demise, in any way possible.

You could probably find a few over the bengals official board..... But I'm fairly sure that at least 10 of the personalities over there belong to Hobs.

had a few throwing insults at me after the big Denver win, and after the loss at Pitt I think

I do tend to exaggerate things though.

but whatever, here's a funny article that mentions the Bengals predicament. The "Dalton Scale", if your QB is better than Dalton, pay him, if he's worse, then cut him.

Tyrod Taylor's rookie contract is up in Baltimore. Drop Campbell, pick up Tyrod, and have someone to at least challenge Dandy.

we're basically stuck with AJ McCarron unless we want to see if he'll clear waivers, which he won't.

It's weird having a #2 QB that didn't even play in the preseason, but that's our predicament.

we'll sign a college FA that can go on the PS

Shocking -- A Hokie fan championing Tyrod Taylor. :)

Figured I'd take some heat, but it's a cheap, low-risk option that would make the team better. He is really talented and regularly out-played guys like Russell Wilson in college, where he played with a trash OL. He would certainly be an upgrade at the no.2 spot and would be someone who could challenge Dalton. Realistically, there are probably 5-7 teams he could start for next year, and if not for Flacco's absurd contract, I'm sure you would have seen much more of him in Baltimore.

what little has been seen of him shows some talent.

I assume nfl defenses would figure him out eventually though.

LOL!

The homerism on this board is terrific.

I'm ready to jump on any rookie qb's bandwagon. After watching real quarterbacks play over the weekend, it just made me more depressed.

I'll take Jay Cutler right now. At least he can make the throws. Andy can't make any throws.

*I never have mentioned TT as a starter. I think he'd be a good replacement for Jason Campbell.

If there's anything this postseason has showed us, you need an elite QB to win. Since none of those guys are readily available, we're going to have to (gasp) develop a QB. At least get someone on the roster with more athleticism than Dalton. The guy had a low ceiling when we drafted him, and has proven he's physically unable to be the guy

Let's just stop...

Dalton is our QB of the future. Period. When he continues to fail to win in the playoffs, Mike Brown will point to a playoff QB (as in reaching the playoffs) and then mention how little he'll make (Since all his esalators are based on playoff wins) and that'll be that.

I really think we need to look at what we have with McCarron before cutting ties with him. any move to sign a legit #2 essentially puts McCarron on the waiver wire and 99% chance of getting signed by another team.

hell, he had better college stats than Dalton and had to face stiffer competition. The only reason he isn't starting is that Dalton has NFL experience and McCarron was injured. He could possibly unseat Dalton in 2015 or 2016

I'm not saying he's Tom Brady, but he's an improvement.

Stop.

He's not replacing Dalton. He's not. It has nothign to do with him being injured...the team loves Dalton, and he's taken them to the playoffs 4 straight years. I don't mean to crush dreams, but the reality is...Dalton is our QB. Period end of story.

yea, which is why they gave him a contract where they can essentially cut ties with him in a few years when his salary seems to weigh a little too heavy.

It made since to keep Dalton this season, we didn't have anyone better and he had been showing slow improvement since his rookie year. But, it's becoming clearer that although the floor with dalton was high, the ceiling with Dalton is rather low. and we need to raise the roof. Dalton will most likely start 2015, that's just our best option. Jay Cutler would have to adjust to Hue's offense and there would be plenty of excuses, transitioning McCarron is most likely the plan already, although it's unlikely to put us in the superbowl either.
