Anyone who believes it will be anyone else other than Andy Dalton is kidding themselves.

This team will not make a change. Period. They will not draft a QB, and they will not use AJ to push Dalton...

It's Dalton.

It's definitely Dalton.

The only intrigue this offseason is whether Lewis signs an extension or goes into a lame-duck year. The last lame duck year was 2010 and it appeared major changes were going to be made in the offseason (both coach and quarterback). Lewis came back, they drafted Dalton, the rest is history.....

If Lewis goes into next year as a lame duck coach, we could set up a situation where if the team tanks both Lewis and Dalton hit the road. On the other hand, if they continue to clean up against average and below average teams and make a 5th straight playoff appearance, neither will go anywhere.

I'd hate to say it, but it might be time to start rooting for a 3-13.

you're right.

The front office looks at making the playoffs 4 years in a row as success and not winning any playoff games as "bad luck"

I guess it could be worse, Scott Covington, Akili Smith, David Klingler worse.

Dalton Vs Esiason vs Anderson

the other 2 got us to AFC champs, but their first 4 years didn't include playoff trips. some of their years were downright awful. I don't remember watching the other 2 play much, but what I remember is that they played with more guts and less glory. Dalton is just in a better position than so, Blaine Gabbert, who was set up for failure. With the talent we've had on some of these teams, I have to believe that a genuine franchise QB could have taken this team to the superbowl.

Fuck it, now that it's official that Winston is coming out, trade the farm for him. He's a total fucking moron, but they kid has talent, leadership and he wins. A lot.

This team is not even close to being good enough to trade away multiple picks for 1 guy...

might wait on that.

players that don't have a lot of college experience don't do well right away.

however, we could ease him into it.

...

one of the things with some of the QBs recently in the NFL is the high floor rookie QBs. Cam Newton comes in and rocks the house in his first NFL game. Andy Dalton makes the playoffs his first 4 years.

Awhile ago it was a really good idea to let your rookie QB ride the bench for 2 years and learn the system and speed of the NFL, but now they are expected to perform right away.

ever year we need to draft a QB until we get lucky. No pun intended. There will always be QBs that rate out at 10 through 32. That's what we have. We simply need one at 1 through 10 while we have decent complimentary players. Easier said than done you say? Of course. I'd say the best route is to draft one every stinking year. Dandy would make a fine backup

Andy Dalton is NOT the problem. Green has been in and out of the lineup all season and was out vs. Indy, Eifert went down in game 1. Marvin Jones has been out all season, Grisham was out vs. Indy. And that is JUST receivers ! Our injuries on both sides of the ball are too numerous to mention and somehow it is all Daltons fault. I'm surprised he got us to the playoffs this year when you consider our schedule and you add in the injuries.
I think this team needs to look at our training staff? Something isn't working. Maybe we need to hire a Yogi and get more stretching in or something.

That depends on your ambition imo...if you are content with 9 or 10 wins a yr and making the playoffs...Dalton is your man...if you want to hoist the Lombardi...he's part of the problem...just doesn't perform at the top of his ability when the games mean the most...can he change that? Yes, but will he? idk.

Whereas a guy like Flacco or even Ben can look like shit sometimes, but when the games are biggest they tend to play up to the moment more times than not.

That said...there's no question that Dalton will be and should be the QB in 2015...you guys would have to sacrifice too much to make a run at one of these rookies that really won't make the team better next yr.

I hate to say it, because I wish no injury on players, especially our own team, but we need a Bledsoe / Brady situation here. I am not saying Dalton is as good as Bledsoe or McCarron is as good as Brady, I just think this offense needs extended play from McCarron to find out if Dalton is truly the problem with this offense. Not going to be easy playing musical offensive coordinators if this keeps happening though.

If Dalton gets hurt, it out for 6 to 8 weeks, McCarron can play just as good and show improvement, Dalton is done, if McCarron can't show anything, then we know we still need to draft at least a capable backup to push Dalton.

I agree he's not, but we did draft the guy, and he took zero game snaps this year, including preseason. Now that his shoulder is rehabbed, he should get an extensive look in preseason to at least determine if he's potentially a better backup than Campbell. You never know until you look, we could be surprised. Besides, how good would he need to be to be a better option than Dalton?

Campbell is a free agent so he may not even no back.

I doubt he'll be a high demand guy. We could re-sign him and Hobs could spin it as our proof of "commitment to winning":pound:
