I think the way last season ended really hurt things..... That team was very talented and for the most part likable. They had a top 10 offense and a top 5 defense. They went undefeated at home and scored 40 points or more in numerous home games. It's really hard to ask for much more from a fan's perspective -- It was a really fun year.

If we would have handled SD in the playoffs and then lost a close one in Denver the next week, I think our fans would have been okay with the ending.... Denver was the best team in the AFC last year - Losing to the best team in the conference would have seemed right. Getting your ass handed to you by a team that you physically whipped just one month earlier was not pleasant. And it reminded everyone of the Bengals shortcomings -- Shaky QB play and shaky head coach. It's hard to imagine how the worm finally turns when Dalton and Lewis are prominently involved.

It will turn. For the worse. You can count on it.

Expect 6 wins. At best.

kramer gave me the best laugh of the evening.

I shall laugh again when people start drafting Bengals wide receivers not named AJ Green in round 3 tomorrow.

If anyone does that, I will begin to laugh since this is only like a 10 team league.

I cannot stand fucking homers. SHOW ME.

When was the last time the Bengals won a playoff game? That's right....I was 11. I didn't even have pubes. I've been married, bought a house, had a kid (who's 8!), divorced, re-married, got another house, started a business, etc, etc.

Spare me the fucking bullshit you goddamned fucking piece of shit excuse makers. Fuck this team. Fuck 'em. I love them, though. That's what's so fucked up.

This has ZERO to do with the regular season, which is what we've been talking about. No one disputes their ineptitude in the playoffs...but to go around predicting 4-5-6 wins because of shit that happened in the 90's with players and coaches who never won in the regular season, let alone the playoffs, is moronic and the fall-back of the mentally challenged.

Well, Mike Brown has helped put together one very talented team, both offensively and defensively. I expect a top 5 for the defense again, and a top 10 for the offense.

Mike Brown is not calling the plays, he is not on the field executing plays. He did his job, it is up to the coaches and players now.

Sure, except Katie and Troy have been the biggest decision makers the past 3-4 years. Even Brown has said that he's stepped back, and that they've pretty much take control of the day-to-day.

If you don't believe that, that's fine. Considering he's put together (or Katie or Troy) a team that has made the playoffs 3 straight times, it's not logical to conclude that suddenly this team is going to fall a part simply because Brown is the owner.

More people just grasping at straws from the past.

yea, remember Mr. Brown wanted Kapernick instead of Dalton.
He's become less confident and was persuaded by Gruden.

I can see below .500 easily with their schedule.

Other teams are looking at their schedule saying, damn, we have to play Cincinnati. Those that have to play us at home are even more nervous about that particular game.

except the Browns, Steelers, and possibly the Broncos
they will have more fans at the game than the Bengals.

well, the Browns are pretty much screwed thanks to Josh Gordon, so it won't matter. I love Baby Hawk, but he's no Josh Gordon.

You've said that the past 2 years running...

As you should be well aware by now, the schedule on September 1st is not the same schedule by December 31st. Injuries, poor play, some bad/good luck, all change teams through the season.

This time last year you were calling for the Bengals to start 1-5...with losses to GB and NE...how'd that turn out for you?

I am sure the Broncos are not looking at us as a pushover. They will be in Cincinnati in the cold playing against a top 5 defense that is known for making top QB's look bad.

I think this is a loss for us regardless, but I bet we push Denver to the brink during this game. Pittsburgh and Baltimore are never afraid to face us regardless of venus because we have faced each other too many times, and the fear of uncertainty is missing when the rival games heat up. Browns too of course, but in Cincinnati, they haven't won since when?

I just don't think any team in the league looks at their schedule and says, "There is Cincinnati so that is an automatic win." They may look at it like, "We are going to have to play our tails off to beat Cincinnati."

The Broncos are the only team at home that the Bengals play that I don't give them much of a chance in, but as you said, late in the season, cold weather and the Broncos could be looking at 13-1 rolling into Cincinnati with a 1st round bye already wrapped up. That would change things dramatically, especially if the weather were especially bad.

However, the rest of the home games, the Bengals *could* win, and you could even make the argument that they *should* win...if you can win 6 at home, or even 7...that means only 3 or 4 wins are needed on the road, and if you steal a win somehow in N.E. or N.O. Pitt or Baltimore (All of which I have as losses, so not saying it would happen, saying if they got lucky and stole a win there) that's just a buffer somewhere else where they could have a let-down (@cleveland per se or vs Jags).

At New England, on Sunday Night Football, coming off the bye week.

A blowout loss in this game is one of the surest bets ever.

Denver worried about playing in the cold...

I didn't mean it that way. Peyton Manning is still Peyton Manning, and he does better indoors and in good weather. Add possible elements and top 5 defense and he could have a little trouble. I didn't mean that Denver was afraid of the cold, I was speaking more in terms of Manning.
