Geoff might be slightly optimistic. Lol. I think he wrote this after three martinis and while getting blown by the old lady.

I think our losses are against Baltimore (game 1), New England, New Orleans and Denver.

I agree with the 12-4 though. If we can stay healthy for the most part. I prefer to be optimistic though instead of a negative Nancy, and that is my choice. :)

They basically said that Marcus Hunt is the second coming of JJ Watt. The Bengals PR front are simply doing what they need to do to get the lesser experienced fans to spend their money.

It's why there are so many Steeler's bumper stickers in this town and why There are so many Browns fans even in the Cincinnati area. People are disgusted with the Brown family and all the bullshit coming out of the Bengals PR puke wagon.

Well, I hope that Hunt is as good as they say, I also hope Gil-berry is better than people think.

Playing in Baltimore week 1 is not an easy chore, even for a team with new weapons. This team finds ways to lay eggs and come out flat. It's not a coincidence, it's been that way for years. Marvin may be the best performing coach this team has had since Sam Wyche, but even a 4th grader can coach better than a 3rd grader.

Yeah, those 3 straight playoff games, and 4 in 5 years...those sucked, eh? Those teams were no better than the Shula era teams, eh? :L

I get that it's past time to step past the 1st round, but to constantly bring up the 90's, late 90's, and early 00's and try to use that logic for this current team is outdated, outlandish, and foolish.

Don't get me wrong, the Bengals have a lot to prove this year, but 4 times in the past 5 years under a different direction, this team has made the playoffs and done well enough. Again, the next step absolutely needs to be taken, but to consistently compare those non-playoff 4-12 teams to the recent playoff teams is simply stupid.

I see no difference between 0-16 and a playoff berth that leads to an immediate loss. In fact, I'd rather the team get the higher draft pick.

Most of our fans don't care. You've got the homers, people like you and I, and the other 95% who just go to the games to get drunk and act like a damn fool.

The fact that you think that's what my post said (even though I stated twice that they need to take the next step) just shows you are seeing what you want to see.

Go ahead and be pessimistic all year long if that's what makes you happy, but that's just a sad way to approach sports in general. It's supposed to be fun, and if it's not fun, then don't watch. It's pretty simple.

That's just moronic, but coming from you, not surprising.

No, you have those who are objective, but also optimisic. You don't have to be a homer to be optimistic. The problem is, too many "fans" love to keep bringing up shit that has nothing to do with the current team, or they just love to interject their own personal feelings as fact.

The current team is a playoff team until otherwise. That's just a fact. They've made 3 straight, and while they've fallen on their faces (and that needs to change) they are still...a playoff team. You can spin that anyway you want, but you can't change it, and it won't change until they fail to make the playoffs.

I think that is well said. I have been agreeing with most everything you say lately. Basically my viewpoint as well.

Our team still has weaknesses, and it needs to prove itself, and no Dalton is not in the elite QB range, but all in all this is a good team and can expect, or should expect, to win every game they play, whether it is at home or on the road. The reality is they won't, and with this schedule they are probably a 10 win team, but could do as well as 12 I think. So I think it is reasonable to assume they can win 10-12 games this year and make the playoffs for a 4th consecutive year. Lets hope this year we can avoid the first round altogether, and get a home playoff game again, but this time starting in round 2.

May as well hope for the best before a single snap is played out, until they prove otherwise as the season progresses. I am sure my opinion of this team with fluctuate as the season goes on, but all in all, I think with this team, it is reasonable to hopeful for somethign special this year.

I might skip some games.

I haven't watched but a few full reds games and to tell you the truth I was completely distracted.

We'll see if they come out playing with heart or if they come out playing flat like the same old bengals. When this team comes out and doesn't play with heart, it shows.

This is my point...same old Bengals of when? Sure, every team has bad games...but 4 of the past 5 years the Bengals have come out with enough "heart" to make it to the playoffs and win an AFCN title (or two).

This team has its flaws, many teams do. However, this team has, more consistently than not, won more games than it's lost, and made the playoffs in 4 of the past 5 years. To use phrases such as "Same old Bengals" doesn't exactly apply, at least to the regular season. This team has found ways to scrap and win, and even beat some pretty damn good teams in the process.

This season won't be without its own set of challenges, but whatever they are this team should only be compared to the past several seasons when talking about playing well, having "heart" (and speaking of "heart" what are you, Gene Hackman calling for Shane Falco, what the hell) and not the pitiful teams of the 90's and early portion of 00's that don't even belong in the same paragraph, let alone sentence, when talking about winning, having "heart", and talent.

If you haven't seen an uber talented team come out and play without heart to the point it looks like they are only giving about 75%, then you haven't really watched the Bengals while sober.

You could say that about any team with high expectations that come out and simply lay an egg. It happens to the best of them.

Simmer down, Gene.

When was the last time the Bengals won a playoff game? That's right....I was 11. I didn't even have pubes. I've been married, bought a house, had a kid (who's 8!), divorced, re-married, got another house, started a business, etc, etc.

Spare me the fucking bullshit you goddamned fucking piece of shit excuse makers. Fuck this team. Fuck 'em. I love them, though. That's what's so fucked up.

I can't stand whiny little bitches either, but we all have to deal with things we don't like.

I think the way last season ended really hurt things..... That team was very talented and for the most part likable. They had a top 10 offense and a top 5 defense. They went undefeated at home and scored 40 points or more in numerous home games. It's really hard to ask for much more from a fan's perspective -- It was a really fun year.

If we would have handled SD in the playoffs and then lost a close one in Denver the next week, I think our fans would have been okay with the ending.... Denver was the best team in the AFC last year - Losing to the best team in the conference would have seemed right. Getting your ass handed to you by a team that you physically whipped just one month earlier was not pleasant. And it reminded everyone of the Bengals shortcomings -- Shaky QB play and shaky head coach. It's hard to imagine how the worm finally turns when Dalton and Lewis are prominently involved.
