Did you guys see what Brandon Tate did in the season finale against the Jets? He and the other return guy watched the kickoff bounce short and roll into the end zone, while a Jet player picked it up for a touchdown.
I can't believe he never did that in Cincinnati.

I did not see that.... That's just Brandon being Brandon.

round 1 we pick OT Robinson.

of course, I probably sound like a broken record, only I'm typing, and not really saying anything.
Just picture Forrest Gump talking about Shrimp boating, and then casually mentioning that we need to plan for Andrew Whitworth's retirement party.

Another fatass lineman from Alabama. No thanks. Andre Smith 2.0

Of Marvin's 14 drafts, I can think of only 4 picks that were better than Tits: J-Joe (shouldn't even count since he left once he got good), Leon Hall, Carson Palmer and AJ Green. But, lets keep telling ourselves that we're good at drafting.

BTW -- Tyler Eifert wasn't considered because he has a broken vag.

I'm assuming you mean 1st round picks?

Peppers can't play LB. He is listed at 205. He would by far be the smallest LB in the league and would be the biggest liability on our team against the run. He also has absolutely no ball skills at all and doesn't force turnovers. A big no thanks to me. I'd wager we go WR or DE. I'd love to see Hooker here personally, that kid has ball skills.

Deonne Bucannon and Mark Barron are both highly productive NFL LBers who weighed about 210 at the combine. Peppers can play that role and his returning skills give him added value.
Again I just think the issue is that you want prototype prospects or players that play a premium position when you're picking in the top ten. Ideally it's a prototype and a premium position.

Neither of them are prototypical LB and we aren't using a hybrid like they need to be. It just never happens. Marv doesn't know how to use them. How many different "hybrid" players have we picked that have failed? If we want a LB take Foster or Cunningham, if we want a safety take Hooker or Adams.

I agree. I mentioned earlier I don't think Peppers should be a top 10 pick. I do think he's 1st rder and will be a very good player. Just pointing out there are two players in the NFL playing LBer at Peppers size and playing well

Both gained substantial weight and were bigger hitters and better tacklers than Peppers too tho. I'm not sold he can tackle well enough to ever play LB effectively.

If that is the case, then he will never be able to play safety either. You can't have a safety incapable of tackling, especially RB, WR, TE. Maybe not worth a top 10 pick seeing how he would be a little bit of a project, I can live with that excuse, but not that he is incapable of playing his position because you don't like him. At this point you have him getting undrafted, because he can't play any position but special teams based on your assessment.

That's all we need him for anyway.... At least until his 3rd year. It's Marvin's system.

I think he is a late 1st at best. I never said I didn't like him and I never said anything about undrafted. I also never said he couldn't play his position, I said that we wouldn't be able to game plan for a player that needs a specific game plan. We have never done well with hybrid players. Ever. Peppers needs a defensive coordinator who is smart and can move him around and put him in positions to succeed, otherwise he will fail.

I agree with this...... Even if Peppers is good somewhere else (which I suspect he will be if drafted by the right team), it certainly doesn't mean he'll be any good here. If he were drafted here, we'd use him on special teams for two seasons before finally giving him a shot at safety.... But, he'd play in our 2-deep system and never take advantage of his unique skills.

We aren't changing our defense. We will run what we have always ran. We won't use Peppers how he needs to be used. We will either play him at CB where he will fail or at regular S where he will be average.

I'm so tired of hearing about Jabrill Peppers. My god if he isn't the most overhyped, overrated player to come out of college in the last 5 years.

What the fuck has he done to warrant all the hype? He has exactly 1 career INT. So he's good as a return man and can break one on a jet sweep or end around. Anything else? He can't play corner. If he can't tackle then what good is he as a LB? If he has no ball skills then what good is he as a center field safety?

Explain it. Why is he so highly coveted?
