Bengals owner Mike Brown: I wanted to draft Colin Kaepernick - CBSSports.com

Brown, who also serves as the team's general
manager, admitted during an interview with the
Cincinnati Enquirer this week that he wanted to
draft Kaepernick with the 35th overall pick and
not Andy Dalton . "I like [Kaepernick]. He has
unusual mobility," Brown said of his thoughts at
the time.
However, the Bengals didn't take Kaepernick
though because offensive coordinator Jay Gruden
was able to talk Brown out of it. Gruden felt that
Dalton fit his offense better than Kaepernick did.
The Bengals ended up selecting Dalton at no. 35
and Kaepernick didn't last much longer. The
49ers selected the former Nevada quarterback
with the very next pick.

He would have busted. Only Harbaugh can work that kind of magic.

There's only one problem here and it's actually quite simple.

Andy Dalton is a better QB than Kaeptain Kaengeroo.

With an owner saying things like this, it's no wonder why the Browns are mired in perpetual mediocrity.

Mike Brown owns the Bengals; the Browns are owned by Jimmy Bengal.

No he's not. Not even close. And that isn't an endorsement of Kaepernick; Dalton is backup / borderline starter material.

If Mike Brown wanted Kaepernick he would've taken him.

They can't get rid of Dalton. His hair matches the uniform too well!

Are we supposed to just take your word for it? :noidea: What makes Kaepernick better than Dalton?

Clearly...

Thats why the front page of NFL.Com has kaepernick with the words "Stone Cold Killer"

Colin Kaepernick's competitive fire melts Green Bay Packers - NFL.com

His ability to win playoff games and rise to the occasion repeatedly in only a year and half as a starter. Just throwing that out there...

What makes Kaepernick better than Dalton?

For starters Dalton's interception percentage is almost twice as much as Kaepernick's this year. Weak-armed QBs tend to throw balls that are easier to pick off because the DB has more time to jump on it. Colin has a cannon, and his balls are harder to pick off.

Kap also keeps defenses keying on his running, and that makes it easier for him to pass.

Again, I've never once said Kap is great. He's not that smart (he forgot his friggn' wrist band after half time), and his throwing motion is kind of long. He stares down receivers. But he's consistently made really great, clutch throws when they needed him to make 'em in the playoffs (something Dalton has never done).

He isn't that smart? What do you use to judge his intelligence... he had 37 on the wonderlic (steve young scored 33), he was an honors student in high school with a 4.0 GPA with extra honors classes. Dude is very smart.

Smart may be the wrong word. He's a hard worker, and he seems very studious. But his awareness of what's going on and his ability to process that information quickly doesn't seem like it's very high.

He forgot his wrist band. That's not exactly NFL-smart.

he forgot his wristband in the locker room? thats your dig on him? Thats means he isn't NFL smart?

thats laughable sickness.

I agree he is still learning the game and sometimes stares down his receivers, but at other times he does get through his progressions, such as the TD pass to vernon davis. So he is capable of it. With experience he will only be getting better. He is pretty damn good now even with his lack of experience... that should not be a knock on him.
