Dray is far more than that. Seeing how his absence has affected the team he's arguably the most important Warrior

Hold up....most important Warrior?

Steve Nash missed 44 free throws in 120 playoff games.

Ben Simmons missed 48 free throws in 12 playoff games in 2021

That's crazy.

Free throws are just muscle memory.

Everyone sees an oversized player that can pass and see Magic Johnson and Lebron James. Simmons role should be like Dray's.

I think when he was a rookie people saw Magic and Lebron. But at this point, assuming he can come back, he's definitely more a Dray glue guy.

That can still be a really useful player and even a vital player.

BUT, and it's a big but, Simmons needs to accept that role. He needs to be willing to bang around in the paint in ways he's never really done in the past. He needs to be willing to establish hard picks for other guys on the team. He needs to accept that he won't be the primary ball handler all the time.

It's a case of the yips, happens in all sports when your brain gets in the way. Lack of confidence.
You can have all the physical talent you want but without mental toughness you can only go so far.

So you traded James Harden for a defensive role player?

I don't recall being a Nets fan, GM or related to the trade whatsoever lol. I do like the trade for both teams once Harden forced the Nets' hand.

Simmons is an elite level defender. If that makes him a role player, then Harden is an offensive role player.

Sixers also got Seth Curry, Drummond (meh), and 2 1st rounders (2022 unprotected, 2027 top 8 protected).

He's also just not a perimeter shooter. He's been around 60% from the line every year in the NBA, but also a 56% shooter from the field for his career (with basically no 3 pt attempts, of course). Similar stats in his year at LSU as well.

He's not washed (lol), but he's not prime Curry either. Warriors are 2-7 in their last 9, all with Curry.

Yes and the Lakers are struggling with Lebron. It's a team sport.

It's kind of hard to say it's just about mental toughness. The yips are weird and usually cause the lack of confidence rather being caused by it.

I remember when Steve Sax got them in the early 80's. One day, out of nowhere, he couldn't make a routine throw from 2nd base to first. It got so bad, people sitting behind the first base dugout started wearing batting helmets. lol

He committed something like 30 errors that season. If memory serves, they disappeared almost as suddenly.

Holy shit! How can someone this tall have this hard a time scoring from a few feet away???? Isn't it just a flick of the wrist with the ball overhead when you are nearly 7 foot tall with a giant wingspan???

It's clearly some sort of shot block avoidance shot, like Tristan's miss fest that everyone loves. Nobody shoots with that much loft from that close otherwise.

TLDR

Lebron actually does what Sixers fans claim Ben Simmons did.

Thing is…

This play is actually pretty common if we are being honest about it.

Player passes because they don’t realize how open they really are.

Guys who have a pass first mentality are highly likely to make this mistake. And it doesn’t make them a bad player.
