What’s crazy is if you watch Embiid every night you see that they still don’t officiate him right and there are so many whistles that should be blown that doesn’t get blown. He gets hacked on nearly every trip down the floor.

Big guys usually don't get all the calls. Most of the fouls on him are pretty blatant though.

You're correct and the Sixers will be playing 5v4 on defense.
A lot of teams do. But the guy who can’t play defense isn’t always a dude like Harden on the other end. And let’s be honest. The defensive issue with Harden is willingness. I think it’s possible at 32 he realizes this is his best chance. As long as he puts out effort on that end, I can live with the deficiencies. He fixes more issues than he creates. The Sixers half court has been straight ass in the playoffs outside of the Jimmy Butler year and even then, you didn’t have MVP Jo yet so the half court was no better than average. This half court situation has the potential to be light years better. A chip and a chair is all you can ask for as a sports fan and the Sixers have given us something to follow and get engaged in.

You can't win playing 5v4 in the playoffs.

Simmons isn’t helping anybody playing like he did last playoffs.

If that version of Simmons shows up again, then yeah.

But that isn’t the player he has been his entire career before that moment.

He's always been that player on the offensive side of the ball. Great on defense but his offensive skills severely lacks and he refuses to work on it.

That is simply not true.

16 points and 8 assists a game is a very good offensive player even without a jump shot.

In that series against ATL, his shooting was so poor he let it affect other parts of his game too, including defense. That is not the player Simmons has been.

For all the hype of the player we all thought he was going to be, 16pts is a joke. His disappearance against the Hawks isn't the first time in the playoffs he no showed.

Is he a superstar?

No.

Is he a very good NBA player?

Yes.
Like Harden and Embiid Simmons has to prove he’s a playoff player. If you look at his numbers it looks like he’s solid. But if you watch the 3 series losses he participated in (Celtics, Raptors, Hawks) he pulls a disappearing act. In the regular season he controls the offense for his team and has the ball in his hands a ton. So when that type of guy pulls a disappearing act it’s glaring.
Celtics 2018 14.4ppg
Raptors 2019 11.6 ppg
Hawks 2021 9.9 ppg

Those metrics are also going the wrong way.

I am not going to miss Simmons standing behind the arch putting a play together and NO ONE on him because they know he won't shoot the ball.

That was infuriating because it took away their ability to run a play because they didn't have to cover him since he wasn't a threat from 3.

Harden draws defenders because he can do more on offense than Simmons.

Simmons may be a better defender, but that is part of the sacrifice. The Sixers offense and Joel Embiid will flourish with Harden.

I saw a promo pic on twitter that I can't find now, but it is basically all of the Nets shooting the ball with Simmons all the way on the right passing it.

wish I could find it again

I wonder if Ben Simmons even plays this season at this point. I am so happy we dumped this dude.

How is he not in shape to play? I thought it was a mental health issue. Did he twist his back playing Call of Duty online for 3 months straight???
